Our team took to the field in Wildon on Friday afternoon away to Austrian side Sturm Graz II.
Maurizio Jacobacci mostly gave more playing time to those who had come on as substitutes against Kisvárda, while one of our summer signings, Dejan Boldor, was able to make his first start. The Italian-Swiss coach was still without Baki Ákos through injury, while Ujváry Ferenc, Hangya Szilveszter, Csontos Dominik and Szabó Alex were rested for this match.
We had to wait only fifteen seconds for our first opportunity: Kovács Erik found Pinte on the right, but the sliding Lechner blocked his shot. Ten minutes later Dúzs was called into action for the first time when Petritsch drove a low effort from sixteen metres, but our goalkeeper gathered comfortably. Somogyi Tamás, excellent throughout the match, then repeatedly picked out his teammates with fine passes. In the 16th minute he released Gyurcsó, but after a drag-back our experienced winger could not lift the ball over Kollár, who collected. Three minutes later came one of the biggest chances of the game: Pauljevic, who extended his contract this week, appeared on the right and received the ball from Somogyi before curling towards the far corner after a feint, but Kollár pushed it away and the Austrians turned Gyurcsó's follow-up behind for a corner. After the drinks break the first shot came from Graz, but Dúzs caught Lechner's strike while airborne. A fine save was followed by a fine shot at the other end two minutes later as Kállai Kevin's thunderbolt crashed against the crossbar. At the very end of the half another one-on-one went begging: Somogyi Tamás again supplied the pass, Kovács Erik was through against the goalkeeper, but Kollár saved, so the teams went into half-time goalless.
The second half began with headers from Kovács Erik: in the 49th minute our young forward could not get enough on Kállai's left-footed cross, but five minutes later he met Gyurcsó's free-kick with a looping header to give us the lead (0–1). Unfortunately the advantage did not last long, as Lang slalomed past several defenders in the 57th minute before rolling the ball from the right into the far corner (1–1). Shortly after the mass substitutions the Austrians began pushing higher and Papp Lőrinc had to save a centrally directed shot, but after the drinks break it was our side who raised the tempo, with Medgyes Zoltán at the heart of things. His first clear chance was blocked, but in the 76th minute he did find the net: Szamosi received a precise pass and drove towards goal before squaring to the unmarked Medgyes, who finished left-footed into the far corner (1–2). We could have doubled our lead late on, but Wiener-Pucher saved Medgyes' third big chance and, at the end of another attack, Zuigeber hit the post, so the score remained unchanged until the final whistle.
Our team have therefore begun the summer programme with two 2–1 victories. We are back in action tomorrow from 17:30 away to Slovenian side Nafta Lendava.
