We travelled to Tiszakécske in Round 24 of the Merkantil Bank Liga. Our head coach Tamás Feczkó was still unable to sit on the bench due to suspension, while Alex Szabó and Patrik Pinte were unavailable among the players, the former because of five yellow cards and the latter due to a two-match ban. Kevin Kántor, however, was available to the coaching staff again after a longer injury lay-off. We had collected 51 points in the previous rounds, while our hosts had 27, although Vasas and Videoton had both dropped points in their two most recent league visits to Tiszakécske.
There could be no complaints about the weather, atmosphere or tempo: our supporters created a fantastic atmosphere on Easter Sunday too, while the teams went at each other from the opening minutes. The hosts created the first chance after a counterattack. Myke Ramos gained an advantage over Hangya in questionable fashion down our left before trying to cross, but Csontos managed to clear. A few moments later Gyurcsó broke down the right and looked for Medgyes with the ball. He arrived well, but Kiss saved the attempt. In the 21st minute Gyurcsó curled a ball into the middle, Szekér misjudged its flight and the ball fell to Varga, who laid it perfectly into Medgyes's path. Our forward aimed for the far corner, but Szekér recovered from his error and made a superb sliding block. In the 29th minute István Márton was forced to substitute the leader of our defence, Ákos Baki, because of injury.
For most of the opening half hour the game was played in front of the Tiszakécske goal, but our final decisions repeatedly let us down. In the 32nd minute Medgyes shot from sixteen metres, but found the side-netting. The hosts then controlled the next few minutes: first Bódi's corner caused danger, then after a counterattack Körmendi fired over Tujvel's goal following Kócs-Washburn's cross. In the 44th minute Csontos once again showed why he is so dangerous from set pieces: his inch-perfect delivery found Ujváry, but our young defender's finish was off target. After the break our first chance came in the 52nd minute when Gyurcsó played a perfect pass to Kevin Varga, who, from a great position, placed the ball just wide of the right post.
In the 58th minute tempers flared. First Visinka headed into the net from Bódi's assist, but the referee disallowed the goal for offside. Then Ramos went in too hard on Tibor Szabó with his studs, though Móri only showed a yellow card. In the 62nd minute Ramos tried his luck from the edge of the penalty area, but Tujvel got down to the bottom-right corner. In the 70th minute Zuigeber produced a moment of quality, releasing Medgyes with a 40-metre pass. After a sequence of dribbles he shot, but Kiss saved. Five minutes later Zuigeber went down the right and the Tiszakécske defenders managed to clear from Medgyes at the last moment. In the closing stages fortune favoured the hosts. After a scramble following a corner, Ramos and Szekér battled for the ball together, the cross into the middle then found Tamás Takács arriving at exactly the right moment (1–0).
The score did not change in stoppage time. Vasas moved top of the table with victory over Szentlőrinc, but Mezőkövesd's defeat means our advantage in the promotion race remains 12 points. In the next round, Kozármisleny visit the Bozsik Arena from 19:00 on Saturday, April 11.

István Márton:
First of all, congratulations to Tiszakécske! We prepared for Bódi's set pieces, but unfortunately conceded after exactly such a situation. In the closing stages we did not concentrate as we should have, although I still feel a draw would have been a fairer result. At the same time, we have to admit that we did not produce the performance we are capable of. We have proved countless times before that everyone can be relied on, so I do not want to explain the defeat by pointing to our suspended players, injured players and those away with youth national teams. Unfortunately, today it did not work out for us.
