Following yesterday's impressive victory over Genk, it became certain that our U17 side would face Real Madrid with no less at stake than first place in Group B of the Puskás-Suzuki Cup. The Spaniards went into the match as six-time winners, while we had won the tournament five times. Our team dominated the first half: in the 10th minute Ferenc Joó's long-range shot struck the post. Five minutes later our youth international Péter Milicz fired over from a free kick. Soon after the restart (matches at the Puskás-Suzuki Cup are played over two 30-minute halves), we took the lead when, after a cross, Sergio Ramírez Ruiz got in front of Erik Kovács but unfortunately diverted the ball into his own net. Although Real Madrid increased the pressure afterwards, they did not create any clear-cut chances; in fact Erik Kovács had a big opportunity at the other end after a counter-attack late on. With the victory, Márton Bogdánfi's players reached the Puskás-Suzuki Cup final, and Budapest Honvéd are guaranteed a medal as the only Hungarian team to do so. Defending champions Real Madrid can now only play Sporting for fifth place, while the other Hungarian side, PAFC from Felcsút, face Genk for seventh.
