Although only three rounds of the OTP Bank Liga have been played, life has changed dramatically for the Somogyi brothers since the start of the season. They played together for the first time in the friendly against Monor and have both started each of the past three competitive matches. Ádám Somogyi’s football journey began at a very early age: he was just three when he first learned the basics of the game.
“Everyone in our family played football: our father, our grandfather… So football stayed in the family. I started playing in Halásztelek when I was three. Even then I played because I loved football—I really loved the ball,” our player recalled. He added that the football camps he attended as a child had a profound influence on him and remain fond memories to this day.
The brothers can count on one another both on and off the pitch. According to Tamás, his older brother has always been a crucial source of support and has helped him continually improve as a player.
“He has really shown me the way ever since I was little. He helped me with many things, and I could see what might lie ahead of me because he had already been through those experiences a year or two earlier. He also helped me a lot mentally, and we played football together a great deal. He still helps me with recovery and developing a professional mindset, because he learned those things before I did.”
Our young players made their NB I debuts together in the season opener against Kisvárda. It was a special moment that became an unforgettable experience not just for the brothers, but for the whole family.
“I had been looking forward to it for a long time and was a little nervous, but honestly, it feels like a dream that we could both make our NB I debuts at the same time. I think every child with a sibling dreams of making their debut in the same match one day,” said Tamás.
Ádám felt the same way, emphasising that their aim is to keep playing together in the future.
“It was an incredible feeling. Our goal is to continue playing together because we have such a good understanding on the pitch. We are so happy that it happened for both of us at the same time. Of course, I had played senior football before, but starting an NB I match together was an indescribable experience for us and for our family.”
