We claimed a confident home win over Aqvital FC Csákvár in round five of the Merkantil Bank Liga and can look ahead from the top of the table.

After two rounds away from home, our team was back at Bozsik Aréna in front of the home crowd and almost 5,000 spectators, hosting the league leaders in round five of the Merkantil Bank Liga. Balázs Tóth's side were still unbeaten before the round, so a good game and a heated battle were expected. Our head coach Tamás Feczkó made no changes to his starting line-up, although Kevin Kántor and István Pekár were named among the substitutes again after a long absence. Our team set an enormous tempo in the opening quarter of an hour. First Pinte broke down the left after a counterattack and crossed for Zuigeber under pressure from defenders, but our young forward's effort went just wide of the right post. In the 4th minute we then took an early lead after a successful press, with Szamosi finding the net (1–0). Our 18-year-old midfielder scored his third goal, making him Honvéd's leading scorer through the opening five league matches.

In the 8th minute Tamás Feczkó's side could have doubled the lead: after a successful solo run Medgyes crossed, but Zuigeber fired wide of the right post. Csákvár showed their threat in the 13th minute when Ominger got beyond Alex Szabó and Tujvel made a superb one-on-one save.

In the 17th minute Ominger arrived at the far post and missed the cross by only centimetres, just enough that he could no longer direct the ball and Tujvel did not need to intervene. In the 23rd minute Ominger again found himself face to face with Tujvel, but our experienced goalkeeper made another excellent save. In the 32nd minute, after a superb move, Zuigeber picked out the head of Medgyes, who charged through the middle ahead of every Csákvár defender, but our forward failed to direct the header accurately.

Three minutes later the visitors failed to clear Kállai's cross and the ball fell to Szamosi, who struck first time. Lehoczki produced a huge save to claw the ball away from under the crossbar. The first half ended as it had begun: Zuigeber crossed again, Medgyes saw his first effort saved by Lehoczki, but the goalkeeper was helpless against the rebound (2–0).

In the 61st minute Szamosi produced another moment of quality, dribbling infield from the left before curling the ball with pinpoint accuracy around his defender and Lehoczki into the left side of the goal (3–0).

In the 68th minute István Pekár returned to the pitch after missing two matches because of a family tragedy. Following the emotional moment, our captain Szilveszter Hangya handed the armband to our young midfielder, who entered the match with tremendous humility and helped the team. With twenty minutes of normal time remaining, substitute András Simon pulled one back from a corner (3–1). In the 84th minute Erik Kovács threatened from distance, but the young talent from Fejér county stood firm in goal and pushed the shot away. In the 86th minute, after an innocuous situation, Helembai brought Kántor down inside the penalty area, after which Káprály pointed to the spot, but the penalty was missed. During stoppage time Csákvár pushed forward for another goal. Following a cross, the ball reached Alex Szabó in our own penalty area under somewhat questionable circumstances, and then, completely inexplicably, Somfalvi brutally wiped out our home-grown defender, who left the pitch on a stretcher. Káprály showed a red card for the reckless challenge. Tempers flared in the closing stages, but there were no further goals and we collected an important three points.

Head coach Tamás Feczkó:

I am a little annoyed because we did not play in the first half the way we know we can. Even though we led 2-0, we cannot be completely satisfied. In the first twenty minutes we tried something, and we scored from it, but the opposition also had two huge one-on-one chances because of it. Tomás (Tujvel) was our best player in the first half; we needed his saves. I am pleased that we converted fifty percent of the chances we created. We scored at good moments against a Csákvár side that played very well. If they had converted their big chances too, it would have been a completely different match. Once we reorganised, after the 20th minute they did not have major opportunities; we conceded from a set piece. I am very happy that so many people came out again and created a fantastic atmosphere. We beat a very good team.
