Most recent cup match: Mezőörs - Paks 0-3
Cup winners: 1x (2024)

  • Paks won the Hungarian Cup for the first time in their history in the 2023-24 season

  • György Bognár's team reached the Conference League play-off round in the summer, but missed out on the league phase against Czech side Mladá Boleslvav.

  • Paks currently sit 2nd in the NB I on 22 points. Their record is 7 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats.

  • Paks have already played 19 competitive matches this season. Overall, Bence Ötvös is their top scorer, having found the net 7 times across three competitions this season.

  • In the previous round they progressed with a 3-0 win over Mezőörs KSE from the Győr-Moson-Sopron county First Division, with Barna Tóth, Bence Ötvös and Gergő Gyurkits scoring the goals.

Shared history:

We have so far faced Paks in competitive matches in the NB I and the Hungarian Cup.

The history of Honvéd-Paks meetings in the top flight began with a 0-0 draw in 2006, and we remained unbeaten against the Tolna side until 2010, a run lasting a total of 7 league matches.

Our biggest win over Paks came in 2019, when a brace from Filip Holender and a goal from David N’gog gave us a 3-0 victory over the green-and-whites.

We last beat Paks in the 2021-22 season, when we won 3-1 in the new Bozsik Aréna (Dominik Nagy scored twice and Nenad Lukic once), before winning 3-2 away in Paks in December 2021.

In the Hungarian Cup:

Thursday will bring the fourth Hungarian Cup meeting between the two clubs. In 2020 we faced the team from the nuclear town over two legs in the quarter-finals. We drew 0-0 away before winning the return leg 2-0 at our temporary home in Szeged through goals from Kamber and Gazdag. Our run did not stop until we lifted the trophy.

As in the previous season, we again host Paks in the round of 32. In that match the visitors took an early lead through Könyves, but we responded relatively quickly when Krajcsovics's corner rebounded off Szappanos into his own net. The closing stages of the second half were also dramatic: Hahn restored Paks's lead, but in the final minute Gergely Bobál's thunderbolt rescued extra time for us in the cup tie. The freezing November evening eventually ended in a penalty shootout, which Paks won 5-4 before going on to lift the cup.
