The new season of the NB III South-East Group began on Sunday with our second team's match, in which we drew with METON-FC Dabas.
Ádám Nyers and Kristóf Csernák, who joined from Csepel, both made their first starts in Gábor Kovács's side. Unfortunately Ádám had to be substituted in the 38th minute because of an unfortunate injury, bringing his match to an early end.
Although in the opening quarter-hour the teams mostly got no further than building attacks, the first chance arrived in the 15th minute: a Dabas cross from the left found their centre-forward Kamarás, who turned away from Botond Horváth and hit a low shot that ended up in Rácz's hands. Dabas generally looked the more likely side to create chances in the first half, although they did not carve out any clear opportunities either. The other dangerous moment before the break came from a threatening corner that Rácz had to punch away.
Ten minutes after the restart Dabas threatened again through Kőrősi. The visiting forward cut inside from the right and curled a left-footed shot from seventeen metres towards the far top corner, but Gergő Rácz saved spectacularly. Soon afterwards came the biggest chance of the match to that point: Benkő met Földi's corner, but his header was cleared off the goal line. In the 64th minute Dabas threatened from another corner aimed at goal, this time striking the outside of the post. Kőrősi reached the rebound but could only find the side netting. After the goal kick, substitute debutant Marcell Molnár-Czétényi found space on the right and our 18-year-old carried the ball towards goal, but his shot went just wide of the far post. Alongside Molnár-Czétényi, Gábor Kovács handed another player his league debut for Honvéd II in the second half, Dominik Forró. Two minutes later we took the lead after a fine move: Gáspár played in Benkő, who elegantly brought Hancz into the move, and he made no mistake one-on-one with the goalkeeper (1–0). Although Mihály Tóth's side again applied pressure during the final twenty minutes, apart from a deflected long-range shot they did not create a major opportunity until added time. In the 90+2nd minute, however, they were awarded a debatable penalty. Kópis pounced on a loose ball and drove through the middle. Sebe got a foot to the pass, but the ball remained with Kópis, and referee Dávid Kiss judged Horváth's sliding challenge to be a foul inside the box, even though our defender appeared to get the ball first. Jakab Dávid confidently drove the penalty into the left side of the goal to rescue a point for Dabas (1–1).
Our second team will not play next Sunday because of the first round of the MOL Hungarian Cup; our league campaign resumes in Szeged in a week and a half.
