Here are this week's birthdays and the more notable anniversaries connected with the club.

Birthdays

July 14

— Celebrating his 18th birthday on this day: Schön Botond our midfielder developed at the Honvéd Football Academy.

July 15

— Celebrating his 76th birthday on this day: Egervári Sándor, a former Budapesti Honvéd defender. Egervári Sándor played for the Kispest red-and-whites between 1972 and 1976. This period of the disciplined defender's career was a successful one. During his years in Kispest he won a league silver medal in NB I, reached the final of the Hungarian People's Republic Cup (MNK), where he also finished as runner-up, and on the international stage helped the team reach the 1975 Central European Cup (KK) final, collecting another valuable silver medal.

— Born 125 years ago: Saguly János, one of the defining figures of the early era of football in Kispest. He joined Kispesti AC at a young age in 1914 and, apart from a brief spell in Germany, served the club loyally until 1927. Saguly János wore the club shirt in 152 competitive matches and was a key member of the legendary side that in 1920 won the club's first-ever silver medal in the top-flight championship.

July 17

— Born 134 years ago: Jurcsó Gusztáv, a member of the pioneering era of Kispest football and its first truly successful team. The outstanding defender served Kispesti AC loyally for more than a decade, between 1910 and 1922. He was part of the club's early rise: in 1913 he belonged to the team that won the third division title, and a year later he collected a silver medal with the side in the Pestkörnyéki Serleg. At the peak of his career he was a key member of the legendary red-and-black team that in 1920 came close to the summit of the first division for the first time in club history and celebrated a league silver medal.

— Celebrating his 57th birthday on this day: Plókai Attila, former Hungary international defender of Kispest-Honvéd FC and a member of one of the most successful eras in the club's history. The tough and reliable defender served the red-and-blacks loyally for a full decade, from 1991 to 2001. His Kispest career was a genuine success story: he was a member of the 1993 championship-winning team and also added a league silver medal (1994) and bronze (1992) to the club's honours. He also reached the top in cup football, celebrating Hungarian Cup victory in 1996 after having won a silver medal in the competition two years earlier, in 1994. Plókai Attila's bond with the club remains unbroken to this day, as he continues to collect successes with our veterans' team: in Kispest colours he is a two-time champion and once a runner-up.

July 18

— Former Budapesti Honvéd midfielder Pintér Sándor celebrates his 76th birthday. He played for the red-and-whites between 1970 and 1982, making 252 league appearances and scoring 30 goals. He was a member of the team that won the Hungarian championship in 1980 and also collected three league silver medals and one bronze with Honvéd. During his career he played in a Hungarian Cup final and two Central European Cup finals, while his outstanding performances earned him the Player of the Year award in 1977.

July 19

— Born on this day 98 years ago: Budai II. László, the Olympic champion and World Cup runner-up right winger of the Golden Team, who played for Bp. Honvéd between 1950 and 1961.

He made 222 league appearances in the red-and-white shirt and scored 49 goals. With Honvéd he won four Hungarian league titles, as well as three silver medals and one bronze, and also appeared once in an MNK final. A legend of Hungarian football, he was a member of the national team that won gold at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics and then took silver at the 1954 World Cup.

— Born 119 years ago: Szűcs Nándor, who served in the management of Kispesti AC and later Kispest FC. During his career he was a committee member, football director, vice-president and head of department. His greatest achievements, however, came as the legendary team manager of KAC and KFC. It was thanks to him that players including Bozsik József, Puskás Ferenc, Ónody, Boldizsár, Zalai, Béres and the Olajkár brothers joined Kispesti AC, later going on to play defining roles in the club's history.

In 1987–1988 he led Budapesti Honvéd to the Hungarian league title and also finished as Hungarian Cup runner-up in the same season.
