Birthdays
July 7
— Celebrating his 59th birthday is Eric van der Meer. The Dutch head coach was in charge of Budapest Honvéd for six months in 2017. He inherited a difficult legacy, taking over from Marco Rossi's championship-winning side, but was unable to repeat his predecessor's success.

July 11
— Budapest Honvéd's loyal servant Ivan Lovrics celebrates his 41st birthday on this day. The Croatian defender arrived in Kispest in 2011 and, apart from a brief interruption, has served our club ever since. He made 270 league appearances in the red-and-black shirt and, despite being a defender, scored 13 goals. During his career he was part of the 2017 championship-winning team, the 2020 Hungarian Cup triumph and the side that won league bronze in 2013. After ending his active playing career he remained with Honvéd and currently works as a coach at our club.

July 12
— Celebrating his 69th birthday on this day is Csuhay József, a former defender of Budapest Honvéd. Csuhay wore the red-and-white colours between 1986 and 1990 and was part of one of the most successful periods in the club's history. He won the Hungarian championship twice with Honvéd, lifted the Hungarian Cup in 1989 and was a cup finalist in 1988.
Those who passed away
July 6
— Twenty-three years ago, Kotász Antal, the outstanding left-half of Budapest Honvéd and the Hungary national team, passed away. Kotász represented Honvéd between 1955 and 1963 and was one of the club's defining players. With the red-and-whites he won the Hungarian championship, finished league runners-up twice and third once, and was also part of the team that won the Mitropa Cup.
July 9
— Seventy-two years ago, Barei Gyula, a former mayor of Kispest, passed away. After the end of the Second World War he served as chairman of the provisional management of Kispesti AC until December 1945. He played an active role in reorganising the looted and devastated Kispesti Athletic Club. Under his leadership a new playing squad was assembled and the equipment of the completely plundered kit room was replaced. His provisional mandate ran until December, so the entire presidency resigned at the regular general meeting at the end of the year. He was later elected president of KAC again.
July 12
— Six years ago, Szűcs Lajos, the outstanding left-half of Budapest Honvéd and the Hungary national team, passed away. He wore the red-and-white shirt from 1970 to 1977. With Honvéd he twice finished as league runner-up, was a Hungarian Cup runner-up once and a Mitropa Cup runner-up once. While a Kispest player he was a member of the Hungary team that won silver at the 1972 Munich Olympics and, in the same year, also played for the national side that finished fourth at the European Championship in Belgium. An outstanding, hard-working midfielder, he played an important role for both Honvéd and the Hungary national team.
