Here are this week's birthdays and notable anniversaries connected with our club.

Birthdays

10 August

— Today marks the 66th birthday of István Pandur, a home-grown midfielder at Bp. Honvéd. The talented footballer was a member of Kispest's first-team squad between 1979 and 1982, making 17 league appearances in Honvéd's red-and-white shirt during that period. István Pandur was regarded as one of Hungarian football's brightest young prospects from an early age. He represented Hungary's youth national team on 49 occasions and was part of the Hungarian squad at the 1979 FIFA World Youth Championship in Japan. One of the tournament's most memorable moments came against Argentina, when he had the opportunity to play against the future world-class star Diego Maradona.

— Born 45 years ago today: Tam Courts. To this day, he remains the only Scottish head coach in Honvéd's history to have managed the Kispest side. He was Bp. Honvéd's head coach between June and October 2022, taking charge of 14 competitive matches.

11 August

— Today marks the 49th birthday of Krisztián Müller. He played for Kispest-Honvéd between 1998 and 2001. The left-back made 36 league appearances for Kispest.

— Today marks the 37th birthday of Eke Uzoma. The Nigerian defender played for Honvéd between 2018 and 2021. His greatest achievement during his time in Kispest was winning the Hungarian Cup in 2020, having also finished as a runner-up in the competition in 2019. He made 77 competitive appearances in Kispest colours, including nine Europa League matches.

— Today would have been the 93rd birthday of Zoltán Dudás, Bp. Honvéd's former right-back. He served the Kispest club from 1955 to 1966 and also won two caps for Hungary during that time. Zoltán Dudás enjoyed a successful career: with Honvéd he won three league silver medals and one bronze, was a member of the side that won the Central European Cup in 1959, and celebrated Hungarian Cup victory in 1964. He also achieved Olympic success, winning a bronze medal with the Hungarian national team at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome.

13 August

— Today marks the 82nd birthday of Kálmán Tóth, who played for Bp. Honvéd between 1964 and 1969. He made 106 league appearances for Kispest, scoring 30 goals. As a Honvéd player, he finished runner-up in the league twice, in 1964 and 1969. He won the Hungarian People's Republic Cup with the team in 1964 and also finished as a cup runner-up twice, in 1968 and 1969.

14 August

— Today marks the 58th birthday of István Téger, a Hungarian footballer from Transylvania who played as a defender for Bp. Honvéd between 1999 and 2002. He made 96 league appearances for Kispest, scoring three goals.

— Today marks the 19th birthday of Ákos Szabó, our midfielder who came through the Hungarian Football Academy.

16 August

— Today marks the 50th birthday of András László, who represented Bp. Honvéd as a left-back between 2006 and 2007. In 2007 he was part of a memorable success for Honvéd, celebrating Hungarian Cup victory with the team.

— Died 44 years ago: Antal Vince Belágyi, former vice-president of Kispesti AC.

11 August

— Sixty-eight years ago, on 7 August 1958, József Koltai, former coach of Kispesti AC, passed away. József Koltai also endured severe hardship during the First World War: he was taken prisoner of war in Russia and was only able to return home in early 1920. He subsequently returned to sport and became Kispesti AC's head coach in the autumn of 1921. He managed the red-and-blacks in 22 matches altogether.

12 August

— Died 69 years ago: Károly Olajkár I, former right-back for Kispest and the Hungarian national team. Károly Olajkár I played for Kispest between 1935 and 1940, and again between 1942 and 1946. The dependable, tough defender also made his national-team debut in the late 1930s, winning one Hungary cap in 1939. He was part of the Kispest team that won the Szent László Cup in 19944 [year as stated in source].
