Thirty-one years ago, the Hungarian Football Federation declared November 25 Hungarian Football Day. On this day in 1953, the Hungarian national team beat an England side that had previously been unbeaten at home 6-3 in front of 105,000 spectators. The match was dubbed the “Match of the Century” at the time. The Puskás Museum, created in the “Tower Building" of the Puskás Aréna and inaugurated today, commemorates this event, Ferenc Puskás and the history of the Golden Team.
Sports officials, former players and coaches attended the opening ceremony. Real Madrid were represented by the club's international director Emilio Butragueno, while the Spanish ambassador was also present. MLSZ was represented by federation president Sándor Csányi. Finally, participants at the ceremony watched a video message from FIFA president Gianni Infantino. The museum was opened by Hungary's prime minister, Viktor Orbán.
