After six matches, our U19 team lead their league unbeaten, with 18 goals scored and only three conceded.

Our U19s faced no easy task as they travelled to Szombathely for round 6 of the league. Illés Akadémia had remained unbeaten in each of the previous three rounds against Videoton, DVTK and Szeged. Márton Bogdánfi’s side went down to ten men near the end of the match, but in the end Ádám Nyers, who has already made his first-team debut, scored the goal that brought all three points back from Vas County. And because MTK Budapest surprisingly lost at home to DVTK, we moved into first place. Our team host ETO at the Honvéd Akadémia on Saturday from 11:00.

Illés Akadémia U19–Budapest Honvéd FC U19 1–2 (0–1)

Honvéd: Papp L. – Szabó Á., Horváth Á. (Molnár-Czétényi, 46.), Csörgő, Milicz, Szelényi (Komlósi, 60.), Kecskés B., Gáspár, Meskó, Kovács E. (Tasi, 60.), Nyers.

G: Szabó Á. (58. – own goal), and Meskó (28.), Nyers (82.)

Sent off: Kecskés B. (82.).

Márton Bogdánfi, head coach:

We were organised throughout the first half. We could have been more dominant in possession, but the lack of familiarity was visible in our play. Defensively we were organised and stable, and the opposition could not create a chance. We were dangerous in transition, but against an unsettled defence we were inaccurate in the attacking third when we had numerical advantages. In the second half we were forced to change our system; unfortunately our defending did not work there because the opposition had a physical advantage over us. We reacted in time and stabilised the last line. In possession we were patient, got in behind the opposition down the flanks and created chances. After a quickly taken free-kick we managed to score the winning goal, and it was also positive that in the final ten minutes our defending in our own half was very good despite being a man down. Overall we deserved to win, although there is still room to improve in our play; the mentality and desire to win were right.

Our U17 side is not in particularly good form. After two draws, they suffered defeat in Felcsút this time. Viktor Petrók’s team can make amends on Saturday when they host Illés Akadémia.

PAFC U17–Budapest Honvéd FC U17 4–2 (2–1)

Honvéd: Liziczay – Ferenc, Schwarcz, Varga-Sós (Baki M., 75.), Szőke (Molnár Á., 75.), Érsek, Martin Á. (Shodunke, 66.), Domján (Varga Z., 58.), Bokor, Kovács Á., Csákány.

G: Volvach (11.), Jancsó (29., 54.), Hódi M. (88.), and Csákány (35.), Bokor (90.).

Viktor Petrók, head coach:

We started the match badly and the high-intensity home side forced us into several mistakes. After going two goals down, we found ourselves and could even have equalised by half-time. We also had opportunities to get back into the game in the second half, but overall today perhaps the team that deserved it more won.

Our U16 team hosted second-placed Győr at the weekend. Győr went into the match averaging more than 3.0 goals per game, but István Körtvélyesi’s boys held the visitors to one goal. Although we are fourth in the table, we have played 90 minutes less than the teams around us this season, so we await the continuation only three points off the pace. Thanks to Kisvárda’s defeat, Győr moved to the top with this draw.

Budapest Honvéd FC U16–ETO UNI FC U16 1–1 (1–1)

Honvéd: Czinki – Marinyák, Érsek, Kralicsek, Solymos, Hegyes, Barton, Rotár, Meggyes (Völgyi, 80.), Hajagos, Malomsoki (Kardos, 80.).

G: Hajagos (46. – penalty), and Orji (30.).

The weekend match for our U15s did not start badly: they won the first half but lost the second – unfortunately by a bigger margin, so MTK took all three points.

Budapest Honvéd FC U15–MTK Budapest U15 1–2 (1–0)

Honvéd: Petró (Szabó A., 41.) – Török (Palásti, 51.), Nyiri, Pisont, Józsa, Schill, Tőzsér (Vass A., 7.), Varga B., Szabó D., Szijjártó, Gerebenes (Magyar A., 45.).

G: Józsa (41. – penalty), and Mohl (56. – penalty), Jónás (83.).

Tamás Szamosi, head coach:

We are playing better from match to match. That was also true today: we created more chances than our opponents. We still have problems with converting those chances. MTK put us under a lot of pressure in the second half and unfortunately we were not sufficiently prepared for the moments after stoppages, so in the 84th minute the visitors took all three points following a cross.

After two wins, our U14s visited leaders Ferencváros but this time left Népliget without a point. Even so, we remain fifth in the table and have played one match fewer. Our team will make up the postponed opening-round fixture next Wednesday away to current podium side MTK.

Ferencvárosi TC U14–Budapest Honvéd FC U15 3–0 (2–0)

Honvéd: Ehmann (Mező, 60.) – Karácsony (Tóth G., 41.), Málint, Oláh-Sebők, Marte, Nnadi Chukwuemeka, Keindl (Palaga, 53.), Kamber, Kovács B., Kovács N. (Hanzély, 53.), Rácz.

G: Dalnoki (5.), Nagy M. (14.), Mouloud (82.).

Gergely Fűzfa, head coach:

The two goals we conceded early in the match, one from a set piece and one in transition, largely determined how the game unfolded. Very little of what we had practised in training appeared in today’s performance. The home side adapted better to the size of the pitch and overall deserved to win. In future I would like us to produce a much more confident performance in possession. No tragedy has occurred; we knew we had to improve, and we will play much better than this during the season.
