With one round remaining, Honvéd BKE secured the league title with a convincing victory. The red-and-blacks took to the field without top-scorer candidate Youla, as well as Lannert and Lázár.
Honvéd made it clear from the opening minutes that only victory would do, and Csaba Tóth found the visitors' net in the very first minute (0–1). Cselőtei equalised the early lead in the 8th minute (1–1). Monor's joy did not last long, as Rajz beat the home defence first in the 12th and then in the 25th minute (1–3). Honvéd BKE were forced into a substitution in the 17th minute because of Kamber's injury.
After the break, Miklós Rajz carried on where he had left off in the first half. His goal in the 46th minute meant that he completed a classic hat-trick in 34 minutes (1–4).
Three minutes later, Erdei also got on the scoresheet (1–5). In the 73rd minute, Ökrös scored Monor's second goal (2–5). Also in the 73rd minute, Bárányos set the final score at 2–6.
Honvéd played with great enthusiasm and flair throughout, with Rajz, Bárányos and Zana standing out. The victory for Bárányos and his teammates also meant that, regardless of the result in Round 22, our team had won the 2024/25 Old Boys championship.
Attila Plókai after the match: — For years we had been on the podium, but we had not managed to win the title. We went into this season saying now or never. There were two important ingredients to our success: we have excellent players and outstanding team spirit. After the autumn match against MTK (which Honvéd won 8–0), I felt for the first time that we could reach the top. We led the table throughout, and twenty wins with only one draw prove that we deserved this success.
In the final round (Monday, May 19, 19:30), Honvéd BKE, already champions, will host Viadukt SE Biatorbágy at the MFA Youth Centre.
