Our youth international striker Benedek Simon found the Mezőkövesd net in the final minute of the first half, giving our young player his first goal in NB II! After the match ended in a 2–1 Kispest victory, we asked him about his goal, the new playing system and his injury.
“A shot came in towards the near post and bounced back off the post — Benedek Simon recalled the opening goal. – Zoli Medgyes was in a better position, but he was pulled down, the ball came to me and I smashed it in. I’m very happy to have scored, I had been waiting for this goal with the first team, and it is an extra joy that I scored in a winning match."
Our team played in a new formation against Mezőkövesd, this time with three central defenders on the pitch. Our forward said the following about the system.
“It was good to play in this formation. Although the system was new for several of us, it suited the team, and the result shows that too. Of course, we still have a lot to practise and there is plenty of room for improvement. During the international break we will work on improving our play even further and rehearsing the necessary elements even more thoroughly." – added Benedek Simon.
In the 51st minute of the match, the fourth official showed number 74 on the substitution board, meaning Benedek Simon could not continue. Our young forward explained the reason for the substitution as follows.
“After the goal I fell on my shoulder. We did not want to take any risks, so the coach took me off. The MRI scan will show how serious the injury is, but I hope it is nothing major!”
