A decisive match awaited our U16 side, who hosted PAFC of Felcsút on Saturday knowing that a win would make them almost certain champions ahead of Vasas Kubala Akadémia. The Angyalföld side had the same record and the same number of points going into the final round, but their goal difference was 17 worse and our team had also won both head-to-head meetings (5–0 away and 3–0 at home).
Viktor Petrók’s side started superbly and took the lead through Martin Bogdán in the 7th minute, only for Vincent Görög to equalise from the penalty spot following a decision that was questionable at the very least. From then on our team clearly dominated, and in stoppage time the reward finally came as we were awarded a penalty, which Patrik För confidently converted (2–1). Six minutes later, following a huge defensive error, our academy side’s lead was already two goals: För arrived at the far post and scored again, his 19th goal of the season, leaving him second in the scoring rankings behind Görög (24), who plays for the opposition. Felcsút were unable to impose themselves thereafter, while our team produced an extremely confident performance to secure all three points and – although Vasas also won – the championship title.
Budapest Honvéd FC–PAFC 3–1
G: Bogdán (7.), För (46 – penalty, 52.), and Görög (24.).
Head coach Viktor Petrók:
"There was a lot at stake in today’s match and we wanted the win too much, which made our play disjointed in places. It was a balanced championship in terms of results, but even more importantly, during our difficult spells and challenges we consistently stuck to the style of play we want to represent, and that was also rewarded with results. The key to success was that the boys believed in the work they had done. I think we deserved to finish top of the table."
