There are four rounds left in the season, and our team, last year's PSK finalists, are still in the fight for the title. We currently trail leaders MTK by only two points, so a win would see the two sides swap places. Our U19s are unbeaten in nine league matches, with a record of 15 wins, one draw and two defeats.
“I have been fortunate enough to work with this age group since U14 level, and I think it has only become stronger year by year. We have an established playing style which, here at U19 level, has almost become automatic, but I also think we have made significant progress within this season compared with the autumn. We have a lot of different goalscorers from match to match: it is not one or two players carrying the team, everyone can rely on everyone else. That also proves that if someone has a better game one week and perhaps a weaker one the next, his team-mates help him out. That has characterised us throughout the season; different players are always the ones stepping up to drive the team,” – summed up the head coach of our U19 side.
Our team most recently recorded a 4–0 away win against ETO. We took the lead in the third minute through Barna Kecskés, before Péter Milicz, Teó Balázs and Erik Kovács also found the net. It was our academy player's second goal of the 2025–2026 elite championship season.
“I think this half-season has gone very well, but we have not put the finishing touch on it yet because not only I, but every one of my team-mates wants to win all the remaining matches. This season I have not been as involved in scoring as before; now I have more of a defensive role. The match against ETO also showed our strength and how well we can control a game. I am proud of everyone,” – said Barna Kecskés, a member of the Honvéd family since 2021 who also made his debut for our second team last season.
Our academy players last faced MTK in November, when the home side edged Márton Bogdánfi's team by a single goal. The coach stressed that, in terms of preparation, they are not placing any greater emphasis on this match than on any other opponent. The aim is to keep the three points at home with a good, confident performance.
Márton Bogdánfi has begun his tenth year as a coach at our club and says a league title would be a fitting crown on the work of the past decade.
“I had not even counted that this is already my tenth year. Saying it out loud sounds like a lot, but I am very happy to have the club's trust — that is a huge thing. I have always worked so that as many of Honvéd's young players as possible can make their first-team debut and perhaps even reach the youth or senior national teams. Winning the league would be a magnificent way to crown it all, and we will do everything we can to achieve it.”
