Although the league campaign has already ended, another major challenge awaits our U19 team as they face Ferencváros in the Hungarian Cup final at 17:30 on Saturday. Márton Bogdánfi and his side delivered consistent performances throughout the season: they remained in the title race almost all the way before finishing second in the league. In his view, winning the cup would be a fitting way to close the year.
“Second place is a very good result, especially when you look at the season as a whole. We want to finish the year in a fitting way because the boys have produced a very serious level of performance throughout the season. Our aim is to crown that with a victory in the cup final.” – said our U19 head coach.
“The Hungarian Cup has not been part of youth football for very long, but we definitely want to finish the season in a fitting way because several players will continue their careers at a higher level, so this will be the last time this team is together. Looking at the results of recent years – whether it was second place in last year's Puskás–Suzuki Cup or this year's league silver medal – I think the boys will do everything they can to make sure they are not wearing silver medals again this time.”
The two sides know each other well, having met twice during the 2025–2026 season. Both matches ended in emphatic Kispest victories: our U19s first won 6–0 at home and then 5–0 away against the green-and-whites. In a cup competition, however, anything can happen, which is why our academy player Álmos Horváth stressed that the team will do everything possible to win.
“Ferencváros are a strong team and operate at a high level, so we certainly do not underestimate them. We will do everything we can to come out on top.”
Teó Balázs believes one of the team's greatest strengths is its ability to perform at a high level even in high-pressure situations. Our academy player feels that winning the cup would be a fitting end to the season. Erik Kovács emphasised the importance of team chemistry, noting that the players spend a great deal of time together both on and off the pitch.
“Eighty per cent of the team live at the academy, and I think that helps us understand each other very well, so we also have the connections on the pitch that move the team forward.”
