As is well known, our defenders have been in the spotlight in recent matches: since the start of the spring season, both Ákos Baki and Dominik Csontos have contributed two goals apiece to our team's successes. In Sunday's match against Szentlőrinc, our 23-year-old defender found the visitors' net in the 63rd minute after Kevin Kántor's throw-in, scoring his ninth league goal of the 2025/26 season. Interestingly, we have won every match this season in which our player has scored.
“I wasn't aware of that statistic until now. I'm glad I've managed to score so many times, especially because those goals have helped the team win. Of course I'm happy with my goal, but the most important thing is that we took all three points again” – Dominik Csontos said after the final whistle.
The result unfolded similarly to last summer: in the third round, goals from Zoltán Medgyes and Dominik Csontos saw us come from behind to record a 2–1 victory over Ede Visinka's side.
“From inside the game you could feel that Szentlőrinc were more focused on defending and setting themselves up for counter-attacks. Unfortunately, they did that well in the first half. We had a lot of chances, but we dictated the tempo and played well. Unfortunately, they took the lead after a minor mistake, but I'm glad we were able to respond.”
On Sunday, in Matchday 19 of the Merkantil Bank Liga, we host Ajka at the Bozsik Arena. The two teams last met in August last year, when our opponents had reason to celebrate: the hosts won 1–0 thanks to a goal from Krisztián Kirchner.
“At home there is no question that the three points are the objective. It won't be an easy match, but none of them are, so we'll prepare and look forward to the game.”
