On Saturday we visit fourth-placed Mezőkövesd in Round 26 of the Merkantil Bank Liga. Before the match, Dominik Csontos spoke about the challenges ahead, his productive season and his own position.

As is known, our team ended Round 25 last weekend with a 2–1 defeat against Kozármisleny. The visitors took the lead in the second half and, although Zoltán Medgyes equalised shortly afterwards, Dániel Zsóri’s 78th-minute goal decided the match. Dominik Csontos stressed that the coaching staff had analysed the mistakes and the team had worked hard over the past week to return from Mezőkövesd with three points.

“I think last weekend’s defeat came down to several things: above all we made team-level mistakes and failed to convert our chances. Unfortunately that is how it went; we are focusing on the future and the next match. We analysed the errors, looked at what we need to improve and are working day by day to make sure the next game does not turn out the same way” – our player summed up.

Dominik Csontos has contributed actively not only in defence but also in front of goal this season: our 23-year-old defender has scored nine league goals in 2025/26. He says the work of the coaching staff and the unity within the team have both played a major role in his productive season.

“We all try to pay attention to helping one another on the pitch and I think that works well. Of course I am very happy to have scored many goals, but it does not matter at all who gets the goal – the important thing is that the team wins. If I can help by making a huge last-man clearance, that means just as much to me as scoring twice. I think everyone in the team feels the same. The most important thing is to get the three points and achieve our objective at the end of the season.”

Another key match awaits us this weekend as we travel to fourth-placed Mezőkövesd. The sides last met in the autumn, when we won by three goals at Bozsik Arena. Our opponents’ league record is 12 wins, six draws and seven defeats.

“A very important match awaits us against Mezőkövesd and we are fully focused on it. We are going into it with 110 per cent fire and hopefully with our supporters behind us. I hope as many as possible travel with us because, as always, we need them very much. We are going to Mezőkövesd for the three points with 100 per cent commitment.”
