Based on the league positions, Honvéd BKE went into the match as favourites, but as we all know, derby results do not always follow the form book. Our team dominated from the opening minute, while the hosts placed greater emphasis on defending. We broke through their compact defence several times, but the opening goal would not come. The first major moment of the match was a big chance for Youla, but the Kispest forward's shot struck the goalkeeper. Not long afterwards, Kamber's promising header flew over the bar. In the 35th minute, Kamber, the driving force behind Kispest's attacks, suffered an injury and had to be substituted. In the 33rd minute we managed to break down the home defence. Lázár delivered an excellent ball from the right in front of the Fradi goal, Youla controlled it on his chest and then, on the half-turn, fired into the net from 10 metres (0-1).
After the break the hosts came out of their defensive shell and quickly equalised through Ujfalusi (1-1). Honvéd stayed on the attack, but this time our play was not as fluid as we had become accustomed to in previous matches. There were chances at both ends, but no more goals. In the final minute, rarely seen scenes unfolded in front of the Fradi goal. First the ball struck the post, then the home side cleared off the goal line twice.
As MTK did what was expected of them and recorded a comfortable win, our lead over our rivals was reduced to four points. In Round 14, on 17 March (Monday, 19:30), we host Dunaharaszti MTK.
