According to the reasoning behind the ruling of the MLSZ Disciplinary Committee, Baki brought down an opponent facing goal approximately 18 metres from his own goal, denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity. The referee therefore showed him a straight red card.
“In the 94th minute of the match, he brought down an opponent who was in an obvious goalscoring position approximately 18 metres in front of his own goal. The referee therefore sent him off with a straight red card.” – reads the explanation of the decision.
The Disciplinary Committee also took into account that the incident caused no injury and that Ákos Baki left the pitch in a sporting manner. Nevertheless, because of the seriousness of the offence, it imposed a one-match suspension.
Our experienced defender will therefore miss the next league match against Paksi FC, but he will be available to face Vasas FC.
