The visitors took the lead in the 11th minute through Imre Tollár, but late in the first half, after a shot by our captain Szilveszter Hangya, the ball ricocheted off Olivér Dinnyés and into the net, bringing us level. We continued to create chances after the break, and following missed opportunities and a throw-in by Kevin Kántor, Dominik Csontos smashed the ball into Rajmund Kostyák’s net without hesitation in the 63rd minute. It was our defender’s ninth league goal of the season; he had most recently scored in the derby against Videoton FC Fehérvár.
“We started the match well and already had a chance in the second minute. We reacted well to the visitors’ goal because afterwards we set a tempo that was sure to wear our opponents down. We missed a huge number of well-worked chances in the first half – enough to have won two or three matches. In the final minute of the first half, we badly needed a sensational piece of play from our captain so that we would not go into the break behind. That was a decisive moment in the match" – our head coach Tamás Feczkó summed up at the post-match press conference. He stressed that his team went out for the second half determined to maintain that tempo.
“After the break we scored the second goal quickly, and perhaps we had chances to get a third as well. In the end Tujvel also had to make saves, and we have to look at that realistically. The scoreline does not reflect it, but based on the pattern of the game I feel this was a convincing victory. It shows the strength of the team that whoever steps onto the pitch can contribute, and everyone is focused on our common goal.”
With the win, our team strengthened its position at the top of the table: we now lead second-placed Vasas by three points and third-placed Mezőkövesd by eight. The Angyalföld side won 1–0 away at Békéscsaba on Sunday, while Mezőkövesd suffered a 3–0 defeat against Kozármisleny. Kecskeméti TE are fourth in the league with thirty points.
