Although the first half ended goalless, Tamás Feczkó made a triple substitution at the break, sending on Ákos Zuigeber, Ferenc Ujváry and Kevin Kállai. The changes visibly gave the team fresh momentum. We created numerous chances in the second half, but visiting goalkeeper István Szabados kept his side in the match with a series of excellent saves. Then, in the 86th minute, after a combination between substitutes Kevin Varga and Ádám Gyurcsó, we finally took the lead, and that goal proved worth three points.
“There was a huge difference between the two halves. In the first half, our chances came only from set pieces, although they were good-quality opportunities. We also scored a goal that unfortunately was not given. Our play was disjointed in the first half, and Tomás had to make two saves. We came out completely differently in the second half: within two minutes we had two enormous chances and dominated throughout. Based on the second half – when we hit the post, they cleared off the line and Szabados made two huge saves – I think the goal had been coming” – Tamás Feczkó summed up, before stressing that his team fought until the final moment to achieve a good result. Our side are now unbeaten in nine league matches.
“I love my team; they really are a TEAM in capital letters. We need everyone, and everyone knows that we have serious objectives. There is always someone who steps forward to become the match-winner. From Tomás to Gyurcsó, everyone was able to contribute to today's game. The atmosphere is always fantastic, and it is uplifting that our supporters believe in us until the final second. We fight until the final minute to get a good result, and based on the second half we deserved to win. I did not like how often the game stopped; there were a lot of fouls, but that is one of the visiting team's characteristics. I am happy that we managed to score the winning goal in the final moments.”
With the victory, our team maintained a three-point lead over second-placed Vasas. Mezőkövesd drew 1–1 with Szentlőrinc on Sunday, while Kecskemét suffered a 2–0 home defeat to BVSC.
