Our team lost at the Bozsik Arena for the first time in the 2025-2026 season, but we still lead the league, two points ahead of Vasas. Although there were no goals in the first half, Barnabás Kovács's strike after the break ultimately gave the visitors both the lead and the victory.
“Our performance in the first half was below criticism because we did not execute the tactical elements we had practised. Neither goal was under threat in the opening period. It is true that our opponents perhaps had more of the ball, but in my opinion it was a very poor half from both teams. After the break we came out the way we should have, and immediately had a chance to score. It is frustrating, but we can only blame ourselves for the defeat and for failing to keep at least one point at home. Before the visitors' goal, we should have been awarded a free kick 30 metres from their goal; that was not an error that merely influenced a match, it was an error that interfered with the championship” – our head coach Tamás Feczkó said at the post-match press conference. He added that the fatigue from the cup match against DVTK was evident in the players, especially mentally.
“After the visitors scored, they practically built a human wall in front of their goal. I do not know how many of our shots they blocked, or how many questionable situations there were in which the decision naturally did not go our way. The fatigue caused by the match three days earlier was noticeable in some players, especially mentally. We made poor decisions at set pieces and when building attacks. At the same time, the beauty of football is that another match comes next week, where our aim is to take all three points.”
On Saturday, in Round 22 of the Merkantil Bank Liga, our team will be away from home this time, visiting Békéscsaba, who currently sit 13th in the table.
