On Saturday at 19:00 we will visit NK Osijek, who finished ninth in the Croatian top flight. The Croatian side have already faced an NB I team this summer, losing 4–0 at home to Paks. Their top scorer last season was Bosnian forward Nail Omerovic, who found the net nine times. The team are coached this season by Argentine Federico Bessone. The club's major achievements include winning the Croatian Cup in 1999 and finishing runners-up in the top flight in 2021. Osijek are no strangers to playing Hungarian opposition: they regularly meet NB I and NB II teams in friendlies (they beat ETO in the winter, for example), they were the guests at the opening of the stadium in Szombathely, and three years ago they faced Zalaegerszeg in Conference League qualifying.
Their squad also includes a former Honvéd player: Ukrainian Oleksandr Petrusenko played for Kispest in the 2021–22 season.
Honvéd have a perfect record against NK Osijek so far, winning 2–1 at the Bozsik Stadium in 2007 and by the same scoreline in Croatia in 2023.
