Cool, windy weather greeted the teams and thoroughly tested both sides. Honvéd BKE began the match with a depleted line-up. The opening minutes were evenly balanced, then in the 12th minute the visitors took the lead from the penalty spot. The Kispest side did not panic, however: ten minutes later Bárányos curled the ball superbly into the top-left corner to make it 1–1.
After the break the introduction of Andric and Máj completely changed the pattern of the game. Honvéd BKE gradually established greater superiority and won a penalty in the 43rd minute after Andric was fouled inside the box. Bábik confidently converted the spot kick (2–1).
Then the goals started flowing in the closing stages: thanks to excellent interplay between the lightning-fast attackers Andric and Youla, Youla scored twice. For the third goal, Andric unselfishly laid the ball off to his teammate, who only had to roll it into the net (4–1).
There was a slight Kispest advantage in the first half, but Honvéd clearly dominated after the break. The margin of victory could have been even greater had the Hidegkút goalkeeper not produced such outstanding saves.
