As is known, our women's team have also begun preparing for next season, with the players already working at full intensity to reach the best possible form for the league opener. Dörnyei Balázs's side have five behind-closed-doors friendlies scheduled over the coming weeks and will test themselves against both domestic and international opposition. (You can find the summer pre-season schedule here.)
For the first match of the summer programme we hosted Astra HFC at the Bozsik Arena. Our opponents won the Women's NB II Eastern Group last season and, along with Videoton FC Fehérvár, secured promotion to the top flight. Our head coach named two new signings, Nagy Panna and Tóth Zsóka, in the starting line-up.
In the fourth minute Simona Horváthová took a free kick and Simon Franciska met her delivery, attempting to glance the ball on, but it went over the bar. Midway through the half we came close to taking the lead: Vachter Fanni delivered a free kick and our defender Levandrea Williams tried to turn the ball towards goal, but it went a few centimetres over the crossbar. In the 32nd minute the breakthrough finally came: Vachter reacted to the loose ball and calmly fired into the bottom-left corner (1–0). We doubled our lead in the 40th minute: Nagy Panna timed her run perfectly to meet Nyul Petra's cross and found the net (2–0). The 27-year-old joined our club from DVTK and scored her first goal in Honvéd colours in the opening match of pre-season. We made wholesale changes at half-time, with only Simon Franciska continuing from the starting eleven. After the restart, the visiting goalkeeper punched the ball away, then after controlling it Kovács Mira blasted into the net from 14 metres (3–0). It was the young player's first senior goal. She had played for our U19 side over the previous two seasons and finished last season with 12 goals in all competitions. Although the visitors pulled one back through Pap Nóra, we ultimately closed the match with a 3–1 victory.
Next Saturday we host Serbian side ZFK TSC at the academy.

Dörnyei Balázs, head coach:
“We played with two different teams in the two halves. One of our aims was for the girls to get 45 minutes of football. The match started a little sluggishly, but gradually we began to find each other on the pitch. Several new players featured, and it is clear where we still have some issues. We still need to work on our team play, because when we put together five or six passes we were able to score a very nice goal. After two weeks of preparation this is natural; next week our play can already be smoother against Topolya. We have to find the players who will make up the starting team. We are not in a bad position in that respect, because we do not need to completely overhaul last year's side."
Nagy Panna:
“It was a very valuable 90 minutes for us, with most players getting one half. I played in the first half and we tried to follow the coach's instructions as closely as possible. I am very happy that I managed to score in my very first friendly. That was my goal all week, so I tried to work as hard as possible in training as well."
