After securing a place in the Hungarian Cup semi-final, our team lost 1–0 to Kecskemét in Round 21 of the Merkantil Bank Liga on Monday. Ádám Gyurcsó stressed that while the past cannot be changed, a team has to emerge stronger from a situation like this.
“A few days before the Kecskemét match everyone was celebrating because we had achieved a huge win, but we are the same team when we win as when we lose. We played a big game against a rival. Unfortunately we couldn't win, but there is still a long way to go and I don't think this match will decide the title or promotion. It was an important game, but the ones ahead will be even more important. We set the bar high ourselves with our previous performances and this time we fell short, both individually and as a team. I can't really single out anyone – myself included – who managed to contribute what they did in the cup match. Unfortunately that's part of football: you can't win every game, and however much we want to, we cannot always produce the same level of performance” – he said, before stressing that the team must quickly move on from the defeat because crucial matches are coming up in the near future.
Tamás Feczkó's side travel on Saturday to Békéscsaba, who are 13th in the table. The teams last met in the autumn, in Round 7, when goals from Ákos Zuigeber and Ákos Baki gave us a 2–1 win over the purple-and-whites.
“It definitely won't be easy against Békéscsaba. Obviously we're travelling for three points, for several reasons. We want to put things right and we want to still be at the top of the table at the end of the season. We have enough motivation to step onto the pitch believing only we can leave it as winners. I trust the group and the staff, I think we'll be able to pull ourselves together and finish with a successful result.”
