Ádám Gyurcsó scored in his second consecutive home match: our forward first found the net against Ajka in Round 19 of the Merkantil Bank Liga, then scored the winner again on Thursday in the Hungarian Cup quarter-final. The latter goal sent our team into the last four. Interestingly, in the 2019-20 season the winger, capped twenty times by Hungary, was the top scorer in the Hungarian Cup. Speaking about the cup tie against Diósgyőr, our player stressed that the team fully deserved the victory over their first-division opponents.
“I think we were better, we wanted it more and we did more to earn it. In my opinion, we deserved the win completely.”
Although injuries have repeatedly made our forward's Kispest career more difficult since his arrival, he now appears to have fully settled into the team and has played a key role in our recent successes.
“Of course I had been putting in the work before as well; perhaps I was just missing a little luck. Maybe I also managed to let go of the fact that I had set overly high expectations for myself. I allowed things to unfold the way they needed to. Regardless, I put in the work every day, and now it has paid off.”
Our team are expected to play their semi-final on April 22, with Zalaegerszeg as the opponent. On Monday we return to league action, hosting third-placed Kecskeméti TE at Bozsik Aréna in Round 21 of the Merkantil Bank Liga.
“An important match is coming on Monday, but I say: dare to dream big.”
