Our youngsters excelled in both the league and the cup at the weekend.

U14 Elite League, round 9:
Budapest Honvéd FC - PAFC 1-5 (0-1)
Goalscorers: Gerebenes (71.), Bajkó (5., 64.), Rozgonyi (53.), Nagy (76.), Speier (80.)

Assessment by Tamás Szamosi: “The first half produced an even contest despite the opposition taking an early lead at the start of the match. In the second half we took control and had chances to equalise, but after giving the ball away in our own half the visitors extended their advantage. In the remaining time the opposition counter-attacked well from a compact defensive shape and scored further goals, so they deservedly won the match."

U15 Elite League, round 9:
Budapest Honvéd FC - Gödöllő 3-1 (1-0)
Goalscorers: Solymos (21.), Ortó (57.), Völgyi (83.), Tóth-Bede (60.)

Assessment by István Körtvélyesi: "We played a hard-fought match against Gödöllő and won a high proportion of our duels against an opponent that was physically stronger in certain areas. We also made good use of our advantages and intelligently varied the tempo of the game. Our defending was disciplined and agile throughout; in attack I would expect faster and more creative play from the players, but we are working on it. We were organised and focused from start to finish – we are on a very good path and need to continue like this!”

National U17 Cup, round 3:
Főnix Gold FC - Budapest Honvéd FC  0-1 (0-0)
Goalscorer: Kovács (46.)

Assessment by Márton Bogdánfi: “We controlled the match, had a lot of possession and tried to break down a well-organised Főnix side. We created our chances as well, but unfortunately we lacked the necessary composure and precision in front of goal.”

National U19 Cup, round 3:
Dunakanyar SE - Budapest Honvéd FC 1-3 (0-0)
Goalscorers: Nagy L. (55.), Nagy M. (69.), Horváth (76.), Igricz (93.)

Assessment by László Takács: “We did not expect an easy match, and that proved to be the case. We faced a very enthusiastic and well-organised opponent whom we could not break down in the first half. Early in the second half we fell behind, but the team reacted well and managed to turn the match around. It was a real cup tie and we did not take it lightly, but even so we had to work hard to progress. Congratulations to Dunakanyar and we wish them every success in the league!"
