The league season has begun for our academy sides as well.

After a long break, our academy teams also began their league campaigns. Our U16 and U19 teams beat UTE by two goals each, our U15s suffered a narrow away defeat to Ferencváros, while our U17s, champions last season, opened with a win over Budai FC.

Ferencvárosi TC U15–Budapest Honvéd FC U15 2–1 (2–1)

Honvéd: Petró – Józsa, Palásti, Nyiri (Kovács N., 74.), Schill (Balázs P., 55.), Menyhárt, Magyar (Pisont, 41.), Tőzsér (Vass, 41.), Varga (Török, 55.), Malomsoki, Szijjártó.

G: Csillag (7.), Dömény (9.), while Józsa (22.).

Head coach Tamás Szamosi:

We played with very poor concentration in the first half and do not understand the reason. As a result, Ferencváros deserved their two-goal lead.
We pulled one back after a corner when Józsa curled the ball first-time into the far side of the goal.
After the break we found ourselves, and we saw the team on the pitch that we had wanted to see.
We had chances to equalise, but errors crept into the execution, and on one occasion the crossbar saved Ferencváros from conceding.

UTE U16–Budapest Honvéd FC U16 1–3 (1–1)

Honvéd: Székely – Marinyák, Érsek, Barton, Horváth-Garaba, Kardos (Halgas, 70.), Jakab (Hegyes, 8.), Rotár (Remenár, 77.), Meggyes (Vérten, 46.), Völgyi (Babalola. 70.), Hajagos.

G: Cseh (15.), while Völgyi (5.), Hajagos (60.), Rotár (69.)

Head coach István Körtvélyesi:

It was a genuine early-season first match against Újpest. We started with energy and the great mental strength that is characteristic of us. We took the lead quickly, but a heavy challenge and the stoppage in play knocked our players out of their rhythm. Our opponents reacted well and equalised during that short spell. After the break we regained control and put the match to bed. With more precise finishing, we could have won by a bigger margin. Congratulations on the victory! We also wish Márk Jakab a speedy recovery.

Budapest Honvéd FC U17–Budai FC U17 3–1 (1–0)

Honvéd: Czinki – Ferencz, Schwarcz, Varga-Sós, Szőke (Baki, 86.), Érsek, Molnár Á. (Martin, 86.), Balaskó (Domján, 61.), Varga Z. (Bokor, 61.), Kovács Á. (Kralicsek, 86.), Csákány.

G: Varga Z. (30.), Ferencz (53.), Érsek (90.) while Abdelaziz (68.).

Head coach Viktor Petrók:

For most of the first half our play was fine, although in build-up and the organisation phase we often failed to recognise our numerical advantages or use them properly. We need to be more efficient in front of goal and learn to finish matches off. In the middle third of the second half, poor mentality and decisions made us uncertain, and it nearly cost us.

 U19 Budapest Honvéd FC – UTE U19 2–0 (1–0)

Honvéd: Papp – Russnák, Ujváry (Kobela, 85.), Horváth, Csörgő, Milicz, Meskó, Schön (Miták, 58.), Kovács E. (Molnár-Czétényi, 46.), Komlósi (Bogdán, 58.), Kecskés (Tasi, 74.).

G: Meskó (43. – penalty), Ujváry (82.).

Head coach Márton Bogdánfi:

In the first 20 minutes we played hastily and often without thinking, so we lost a great many balls and our opponents were able to gain the upper hand. During this period we were forced to defend in our own half, but our defensive shape was compact. We were not successful in the duels, however, and our aggression was also insufficient.
In the second half of the first period we took control, had more possession and got in behind the opposition several times down the flanks. We created chances, but poor decisions in the attacking third prevented us from scoring.
In the second half we played more patiently and switched play more often, which created further opportunities, but we made mistakes in numerical-advantage situations and lacked concentration when chances arose. In the end we secured the victory from a counterattack. Overall the win was deserved, but I am not yet completely satisfied with our performance.
