Mezey behind the numbers
Remembering the recently deceased Dr. György Mezey, we look back at the exceptional results of his time in Kispest. The master coach first took charge of Honvéd in August 1990 and began with a 3–0 victory over Vác. His final match in Kispest was also successful. On June 20, 1992, KHFC beat Videoton-Waltham 4–1.
He won the league with the red-and-blacks in 1991 and finished third in 1992. Between 1990 and 1992 he was in charge of the Kispest team in a total of 60 league matches. His record speaks for itself: 38 wins, 11 draws, 11 defeats, 111 goals scored, 47 conceded, 87 points (at the time, a win was worth two points). That represents a 72.5 percent performance rate, the third-highest coaching figure in the club’s history.

Accusations against KAC
Wekerletelepi Sport Club (WSC) levelled serious accusations against Kispesti AC (KAC) in connection with its merger with KNAFC. According to the complaint, KAC strengthened its team by circumventing the rules: it fielded players who, after a six-month layoff, were able to play immediately through the merger and could therefore appear in league competition twice within a year. MLSZ rejected WSC’s complaint.

Honvéd struggle but beat ZTE
Bp. Honvéd edged Zalaegerszeg 1–0 in the match played in Kispest. The home side attacked for most of the game, but inaccurate play and the visitors’ organised defending meant they could not break through for a long time. The winning goal came in the 61st minute when Weimper headed in after a cross from Lukács.
