Two wins and a draw – three of our youth teams faced the corresponding DVSC age groups.

Our U14 side also began its league season after not playing in the opening round because it was taking part in a prestigious international tournament in the Netherlands. The U14s hosted ETO, but after a goalless first half they eventually suffered a three-goal defeat. Our team visits bottom side DVTK on Saturday.

Budapest Honvéd FC U14 – ETO Academy U14 0-3 (0-0)

Honvéd: Ehmann (Orbán 66.) – Karácsony, Málint, Oláh-Sebők (Kovács B. 61.), Horváth, Babalola (Kamber 61.), Marte (Palaga 66.), Nnadi (Tóth G. 48.), Rácz (Oke 41.), Hanzély (Keindl 61.), Gerencsér

G: Mészáros (58.), Szabó B. (65.), Léránt (73.).

Head coach Gergely Fűzfa:

“You could feel some flatness in the boys after the international tournament in the Netherlands. We are most dissatisfied with our play on the ball and definitely want to improve that next week. The elements we had practised without the ball appeared at a good level in the match, but our opponents were able to take the lead from two individual mistakes. The score is deceptive: although they had more possession in the middle of the pitch, at 0-0 it was us who created the bigger chances, but unfortunately we could not convert them. After two individual errors, our opponents took the lead midway through the second half and effectively put the game beyond us. We will build on the positive elements and try to improve the things that worked less well in the next matches.”

After a 2-1 defeat to Ferencváros, our U15s hosted Debrecen, who had drawn with Illés Akadémia in the opening round. Tamás Szamosi's players host ETO next Saturday at 12:15.

Budapest Honvéd FC U15 – DVSC U15 1-1 (1-1)

Honvéd: Petró – Török (Matyó 60.), Nyiri (Magyar 41.), Palásti, Pisont (Kovács 71.), Józsa, Menyhárt, Vass (Gerebenes 41.), Tőzsér (Balázs 55.), Varga, Szijjártó

G: Tőzsér (35.), while Nagy Á. (15.).

Head coach Tamás Szamosi:

“In the first half our opponents put us under a lot of pressure, which prevented us from playing the way we had planned. It took time for us to get into the rhythm of the match. In the second half we finally produced the team performance and style of play we had wanted from the start: we took control, created chances and clear opportunities. Unfortunately, we made poor decisions in the final actions. Looking at the match as a whole, the draw was absolutely deserved.”

Two teams met in the U16 Elite League after both had won their opening fixtures. Although we were the home side and did more to try to win the game, the visitors ultimately took all three points.

Budapest Honvéd FC U16 – Várda Football Academy U16 0-1 (0-1)

Honvéd: Czinki – Marinyák, Érsek (Ortó 46.), Barton, Horváth-Garaba, Kardos (Vérten 46.), Hegyes, Rotár (Babalola 75.), Völgyi (Halgas 46.), Hajagos, Malomsoki

G: Dovbak (20.).

Head coach István Körtvélyesi:

“We played a below-standard match at the weekend, but the shortcomings were not caused by us. There were critical situations in the game that do not belong in an elite U16 league match. In terms of play and dynamics we met the required level; we should have turned our superiority into goals. There were several good performances, and the players also achieved their individual objectives.”

Our team, which celebrated the league title last season, has started this campaign superbly as well. After beating Budai FC, they now took all three points from Debrecen. Viktor Petrók's side host PMFC in the next round (13 September, Saturday, 12:15).

DVSC U17 – Budapest Honvéd FC U17 1-2 (0-1)

Honvéd: Balogh – Ferencz, Schwarcz, Varga-Sós, Szőke, Érsek, Martin (Kralicsek 79.), Balaskó (Molnár 61.), Varga (Happe 85.), Kovács (Shodunke 85.), Csákány (Domján 46.)

G: Albert L. (48.), while Varga Z. (27.), Érsek (67.).

Head coach Viktor Petrók:

“We approached the first half well and kept the match under control; we could even have built a bigger lead. After conceding at the start of the second half we lost our way for a while, but we continued trying to play our own game, even though we could no longer do so convincingly. Even so, our victory was deserved, and the team's fighting spirit played a major role in it.”

Our U19 goal remained untouched in both rounds, although this time Zsombor Liziczay started between the posts instead of Lőrinc Papp. Márton Bogdánfi's team are therefore one of four sides with a perfect record after two rounds (FTC, MTK, Videoton). However, Ferencváros themselves visit the Academy on Saturday at 10:00.

DVSC U19 – Budapest Honvéd FC U19 0-4 (0-2)

Honvéd: Liziczay – Horváth, Schön (Bogdán 37.), Komlósi, Kovács (Molnár-Czétényi 60.), Csörgő (Somogyi 68.), Meskó, Ujváry (Miták 60.), Kecskés (Tasi 68.), Milicz, Szabó

G: Komlósi (7., 53.), Kovács E. (13.), Tasi (78.).

Head coach Márton Bogdánfi:

“It has been a very long time since I saw the team this motivated and this hungry to win; our mentality was perhaps comparable to the Suzuki Cup matches. From the first minute you could feel who wanted the victory more. We performed at an outstanding level in every phase of the game. We controlled the match throughout, both with and without the ball. In the attacking third we managed to make our play more precise, and we were focused in front of goal as well, so the emphatic win was fully deserved. It was especially pleasing that the substitutes also produced very good performances. At the same time, after the match we stressed to the team that if they are capable of playing like this, they cannot relax: this will be the standard expected of them going forward. We are now focusing on the next opponent.”
