Our women’s team has been strengthened with a Croatia international centre-forward after signing 22-year-old Karla Kurkotovic, who joins us in Kispest from ZNK Split.
Krisztián Korozmán, head of women’s football: “Karla is a classic finisher whose game intelligence and technical ability are both outstanding. She is a forward with an excellent mentality who is capable of constantly putting defenders under pressure, and that is exactly the kind of striker we were looking for."
Karla Kurkotovic: “I started playing football at the age of eight thanks to my father. He gave me my first shirt and we regularly watched matches together. I first played with boys and later with girls, and at 16 I was already able to play at senior level and had opportunities with several Croatian top-flight clubs. I liked the ideas that Honvéd’s management outlined, and I found excellent conditions here. Everything is in place for quality work, and that matters a great deal because we feel that we are important to the club and receive every form of support needed to be successful on the pitch. We want to achieve the best possible result. I hope that as newcomers we can become the surprise team of the league, and I would like to contribute to that with goals and good performances.“
Martin Masaryk, head coach: “Karla Kurkotovic is a hard-working, humble player and it is clear how important the team is to her, while the quality of our attacking play can improve considerably with her arrival. Both in terms of her personality and her abilities, she fits our team perfectly and can be an important member of Honvéd next season. She won a league title in her home country, and I am delighted that we managed to bring her to Kispest.“
