After our 1–1 draw at Kisvárda, we host MTK Budapest this time. Our players are preparing for their first home league match in three years, and it will also take place just two days before our club's 117th birthday on August 3. Adding to the occasion, this will be the 200th meeting between the two sides in a rivalry stretching back to 1916.
Supporter information:
The match had been due to kick off at 19:30 on Saturday, August 1, at the Bozsik Arena, but because of the exceptional heat and the resulting difficulties with the energy supply, the MLSZ moved kick-off to 17:30.
M4 Sport will broadcast the match live.
Under a ruling by the MLSZ Disciplinary Committee, the central part of the home supporters' end (B3–B4–B5) will not be opened. Our supporters' group asks everyone who wants to cheer the team on loudly to buy tickets for sectors B6–B7 or C1–C2–C3. Please note that supporters with tickets for the C sectors must enter the Bozsik Arena through the 'C' entrance gates.
Tickets for the match are still available at: honved.csakjegyek.hu
Our ticket offices open three hours before kick-off.
To mark our club's 117th birthday, we have exciting activities planned for you at Lipták Grund from 17:00. Arrive early, join in the games, meet our club legends and get in the mood for the match together!

Like our club, MTK Budapest has a rich history, having won 23 league titles since its foundation in 1888. After the turn of the century, MTK enjoyed the longest winning streak in Hungarian football history, claiming ten successive championships between 1916 and 1925. From then until the 1940s, they finished on the podium almost every year except two. The blue-and-whites did not win a league title in the 1960s, but enjoyed excellent runs in international competitions. The club last lifted the league trophy in 2008. MTK were relegated from NB I in 2017 but bounced straight back as second-division champions. Since then, they have generally been an established top-flight side, although they finished tenth last season and had to focus primarily on securing their survival in the closing stages.
Familiar faces:
Máté Pinezits joined MTK last December from Kozármisleny, but he also has a past in Kispest. He joined our academy in summer 2020 and coached the U19 team for three seasons. He took charge of our first team in June 2023, although his tenure as head coach lasted only until October.
MTK's squad includes four former Honvéd players, among them recently departed Ádám Nyers, who played more than 100 matches for various age groups in our youth system. He also made his senior debut last season, appearing in 13 league matches and two Hungarian Cup ties, scoring four goals. Our former forward is unlikely to play at the Bozsik Arena because of injury. Marcell Mácsik and Milán Klausz also played football at our academy.
Zalán Kerezsi spent six full seasons with Honvéd. During that time he made 57 competitive appearances for our first team, registering 19 goals and 11 assists.
Several members of our squad also have links to MTK: Ákos Baki played for the blue-and-whites between 2009 and 2022, Ákos Zuigeber between 2013 and 2025 and Szilveszter Hangya between 2011 and 2015.
Head-to-head meetings:
The clubs have met 199 times in the top flight, with our record standing at 63 wins, 46 draws and 90 defeats. Their most recent meetings came in the 2021/22 season; alongside two 1–0 defeats, we recorded a convincing three-goal victory in the autumn fixture.
Our last five matches against MTK:
