As is well known, our team recorded an important success last Thursday, beating DVTK 1–0 in the Hungarian Cup quarter-final thanks to Ádám Gyurcsó's goal. Tamás Feczkó's side thereby secured a place in the semi-finals, where top-flight Zalaegerszeg will be the opponent. After the final whistle, our defender Kevin Kállai stressed that the team had come through a difficult match and that qualification represented a major step forward.
“First of all, I am very happy that we managed to reach the semi-finals; it is a big step forward for us. I am glad we were able to beat Diósgyőr. The tempo was quite demanding, because we know Diósgyőr play in another division, one we are also aiming to reach. I am happy that we were able to compete with them and managed to win. It was a very tough match with lots of duels.”
Our player came on as a substitute in the 69th minute of the cup tie against DVTK and received a yellow card nine minutes before the end of regular time. It was his third booking of the competition, so our head coach will have to do without him in the semi-final.
“It would have been nice to provide an assist or score a goal, but I am not dissatisfied because we were able to win. I am less pleased about the yellow card, because it was my third. Regardless of that, we definitely want to beat Zalaegerszeg as well and go all the way to the final.”
Despite Thursday's victory, we cannot sit back, because another important match awaits our team on Monday. In Round 21 of the Merkantil Bank Liga, we host third-placed Kecskeméti TE at Bozsik Aréna. We last met Kecskemét in the autumn, in Round 6 of the league, when the hosts won 1–0 thanks to Péter Beke's penalty.
“I expect another difficult match against Kecskemét, because we know the quality they have. Even so, our objective can only be victory, because we want to win promotion. If we focus on our own game, there should be no problem.”
