Our U19 side continue to fight for a podium place after facing Paks at the Academy on Saturday. László Takács’s team took an early lead and never let victory slip from their hands, so they still have a chance to reach the podium before the final round. To do so, however, they must win in Debrecen and also need a favourable result in the Ferencváros–MTK match. FTC are two points ahead of us, while MTK sit fourth thanks to a better goal difference.
Budapest Honvéd FC U19–Paksi FC U19 3–0
G: Csákány (13.), Igricz (23.), Miták (90.).
Head coach László Takács:
“We managed to take the initiative from the start of the match and impose our will on the visitors. It was important that this superiority was also reflected in goals, so we moved two goals ahead relatively early. Apart from the first few minutes, our play in possession was patient enough; we did not rush things and played with purpose. The high press worked well, we won many balls in the opposition half and managed to collect the clearances. In the second half we could not maintain the intensity of our play without the ball, and our play in possession also declined. We tried to change that with substitutions and a change of system. Our defending became more stable, but our play with the ball did not improve, so we created few chances. In the final minute, after winning the ball through pressing, we managed to score our third goal.
Our U17s played out a four-goal draw and will finish second in the league behind Vasas and ahead of ETO FC Győr. Márton Bogdánfi’s players face bottom side Kisvárda in the final round.
DVSC U17–Budapest Honvéd FC U17 2–2
G: Molnár (17.), Nyikos (26.), and Kovács (35.), Miták (54.).
Our U16s continue their run. After the midweek victory over Debrecen they also comfortably beat Pécs and, with one round remaining, lead the table on superior goal difference. We host PAFC in the final round, while Vasas travel to bottom side Diósgyőr, so we will probably have to beat the team from Felcsút.
PMFC U16–Budapest Honvéd FC U16 0–7
G: Acsai (18., 26., 50.), För (48., 59.), Somogyi (63.), Érsek (87.).
Although DVSC surprisingly lost to bottom side DVTK (and third-placed PAFC also failed to score), our U15s could not fully capitalise on their rival’s slip, letting two points escape in the closing stages. István Körtvélyesi’s team visit PAFC, who are fighting for third place, and with favourable results could still finish the campaign in fourth.
Budapest Honvéd FC U15–Várda Labdarúgó Akadémia U15 2–2
G: Marinyák (16.), Ortó (78.), and Kovbaszjuk (56.), Kizsnyak (85.).
Our U14s, somewhat surprisingly, took a point from Debrecen, who are aiming for second place and may now even miss out on the podium. Tamás Szamosi’s boys play Kisvárda away in the next round.
Budapest Honvéd FC U14–DVSC U14 1–1
G: Gerebenes (46.), and Csorba (8.).
Head coach Tamás Szamosi:
“I am very proud of my players after today’s match. They played the way we wanted them to. There were periods when Debrecen controlled the game, but our players never gave up for a single minute and kept pushing honestly until the final whistle! You can see the improvement in our team’s play from match to match; I hope the wins will also come in the final two games of the season.”
