With two rounds remaining, our U19 team still have hope of finishing on the podium. László Takács’s players defeated fellow podium contenders MTK. Although there are three places between the clubs in the table, our side have played one match fewer and can still reach the top three. At the weekend they host second-bottom Paks, then visit eighth-placed DVSC. Fourth-placed MTK face second-placed FTC in the final round.
Budapest Honvéd FC U19–MTK Budapest U19 2–1
G: Szelényi (12.), Alarishi (76.), and Urbán (36.).
Head coach László Takács:
We started the match well, managing to break down our opponents several times on the flanks and also win the ball through pressing, so we deservedly took the lead. MTK then controlled the game; our first line of five did not defend well and they were able to play through us too easily, scoring from one such situation. Our counter-attacks carried a threat, and we also had chances towards the end of the half. We managed to organise our defending for the second half and they found it harder to play through us. We created opportunities in transition and from set pieces, regained the lead and managed to hold onto it until the end.
Our team, who finished second at the PSK, did not enjoy a successful weekend in Felcsút this time. With Vasas winning, they are already certain to finish first with one round remaining. We host Kisvárda in our final match of the season.
PAFC U17–Budapest Honvéd FC U17 1–0
G: Fecso (82.).
Head coach Márton Bogdánfi:
First of all, congratulations to Vasas on winning the championship! About the match, I would only say that perhaps this was our most convincing performance of the season. We had the territorial advantage and also created more chances than PAFC, but unfortunately that was not reflected in the result.
The U16s played a midweek match and recorded an easy victory over podium-chasing Debrecen on Wednesday. They therefore remain top, although Vasas Kubala Akadémia have collected the same number of points over the first twenty rounds. Viktor Petrók’s side visit PMFC before hosting PAFC in the final round.
Budapest Honvéd FC U16–DVSC U16 3–0
G: Somogyi (6., 29.), Bokor (80.).
Our U15 moved up the table with a convincing win. István Körtvélyesi’s side triumphed in Gödöllő and remain in the fight for fourth place. In the next round we host ninth-placed Kisvárda.
Gödöllői SK U15–Budapest Honvéd FC U15 0–3
G: Vérten (27.), Solymos (53.), Kardos (60.).
Our U14s slipped one place in the table after Illés Akadémia surprisingly managed to beat Győr, while FTC moved up one place and onto the podium with this win.
Ferencvárosi TC U14–Budapest Honvéd FC U14 4–1
G: Palásthy (26., 31.), Bécsy (57.), Deák (77.), and Józsa (28. – penalty).
Head coach Tamás Szamosi:
I do not usually talk about refereeing and I will not now either, because I would be suspended for a long time. We played particularly well in the first half. In the second half the numerical advantage showed, even though we had done nothing to deserve being a man down.
