There was little danger in front of either goal in the opening ten minutes, but we could have taken the lead in the 14th minute when Farkas received the ball inside the penalty area, only for his shot to go over. Paks punished us immediately: the corner flag kept the ball in play for Zimonyi, the visiting attacker curled it in from the left, and Papp headed home Paks's opening goal. (0-1)
We could have equalised shortly afterwards when Medgyes managed to shoot from the left despite being surrounded by several defenders, but Simon pushed the effort behind for a corner. Four minutes later the visitors scored again: Milán Győrfi rolled the ball back to Papp, who struck a huge first-time shot from 19 metres into the top-right corner. (0-2)
The latest goal hit our team hard and in the 28th minute Pekár fouled Varga inside the penalty area. Zimonyi converted the resulting spot kick into the bottom-right corner. (0-3)
A minute later Paks youngster Győrfi curled an effort from 14 metres towards the bottom-left corner. Tóth tried to get a foot to the shot, and unfortunately the ball ended up in the net between Dúzs's hands, putting the visitors four goals ahead. (0-4)
In the 34th minute the ball travelled from head to head inside the Paks penalty area, Benczenleitner nodded it into the middle and Szabó burst onto it, firing right-footed into the net while falling to score his first goal for Honvéd's senior team. (1-4)
Paks then hit the post, while Medgyes found himself in a huge one-on-one chance, but our attacker struck Simon from a great position.
At the end of the first half the visitors extended their advantage further, Tóth scoring a tremendous goal from a tight angle on the right. (1-5)
In the second half the team from Tolna created far fewer chances. They did hit the crossbar once and Tujvel made a brilliant save from a clear chance late on. At the other end Keresztes tested Simon with a free kick, but we were unable to score another goal either.
Our team therefore bowed out of the MOL Hungarian Cup. We will have the chance to respond on Sunday against Szeged-Csanád Grosics Akadémia, this time in the league.
