In their final league match of the 2025–26 season, our U16 side hosted 11th-placed Gödöllői SK at Bozsik Arena. We last faced our opponents in the autumn, when goals from Miklós Völgyi, Olivér Barton and Botond Horváth-Garaba earned us a 3–1 victory at the Szűcs Lajos Sports Centre. István Körtvélyesi's team began the match top of the table, although MTK had played fewer games. They still have a chance to win the championship if their Budapest rivals lose two of their next three matches. If the teams finish level on points, the number of league wins will decide the title.
We had to wait only nine minutes for the opening goal. Kornél Solymos shot from the corner of the penalty area and, although visiting goalkeeper Zsolt Szabós made the save, Völgyi Miklós produced an excellent individual move before blasting into the top-right corner (1–0). Our academy player scored his fifth league goal of the 2025–26 season. The goals then began to flow: in the 14th minute Hajagos Hunor fired from the edge of the box to double our lead (2–0). Soon afterwards, Hajagos played Solymos in, whose cross was met by Vérten Martin who found the bottom-right corner (3–0). In the 22nd minute, Péter Szijjártó laid the ball back to Vérten, who aimed for the bottom-left corner, but Szabós saved. In the 27th minute, Miklós Völgyi took a free-kick and Horváth-Garaba Botond glanced the ball into the net (4–0). Late in the first half, Solymos Kornél scored our fifth goal, smashing the ball under the crossbar from the edge of the penalty area (5–0). In the 45th minute, the visitors pulled one back: after Horváth-Garaba lost possession, András Tóth-Bede rolled the ball into the net (5–1).
After the break, Milán Meggyes tried his luck from 18 metres, but Szabós saved. The goals continued to come nonetheless: in the 57th minute, Horváth-Garaba placed the ball into the bottom-right corner from the edge of the box, then Jakab Márk turned towards goal and scored our seventh (7–1). Shortly afterwards, our goalkeeper Krisztián Székely tipped the ball out from under the crossbar, before in the 78th minute Domány Bence blasted into the net (8–1). In the closing stages, Botond Rotár used a shooting feint before aiming for the centre of goal from 19 metres, but Szabós stretched to make the save.
Our U16 side recorded a seven-goal-margin victory in the final round. A podium finish is already guaranteed, and it remains possible that the team will end the season with the gold medal.
