SHARED HISTORY

We first met Kazincbarcika in an NB I promotion/relegation play-off in 1990.

We won the first leg in Kispest 1-0 thanks to a goal from István Pisont, before the return leg in Barcika produced a goal-filled contest and an aggregate victory for Kispest in front of 15,000 spectators. The hosts went ahead as early as the second minute through Kalmár, but Gregor was able to respond before half-time. In the second half, Asszony's goal brought Kazincbarcika level again in the tie, but late on Csehi's free-kick goal finally settled the two-legged battle.

In 2008 we faced Kazincbarcika again, this time with a place in the Hungarian Cup final at stake. We played the first leg away and the hosts made a flying start, building a two-goal lead by the 15th minute through goals from Stevica and Claudiu. The yellow-and-blues were unable to win the match, however, as goals from Róbert Zsolnai and Attila Dobos rescued a draw for us in Barcika.

The flood of goals continued in the second match, as after seven minutes Barcika were once again in a qualifying position, but Abass soon equalised. After three quarters of the tie had elapsed, KBSC led 4-3 on aggregate after regaining the lead at the end of the first half. The final 20 minutes, however, turned into a dream: first Hercegfalvi equalised (2-2), then Diego completed the turnaround (3-2), and Hercegfalvi settled any remaining questions with his second goal (4-2), sending us through to the last four of the Hungarian Cup 6-4 on aggregate.

In 2019 the Borsod side hosted us at their temporary home in Putnok and again made life difficult for us, but Kispest emerged victorious. There were no goals in normal time, but in the 2x15-minute extra-time period goals from Bence Batik and Davide Lanzafame gave us a 2-0 win.

We met Kazincbarcika in the Second Division last season. In October 2023 the visitors won 1-0 at the Bozsik Aréna with a header from Bálint Kártik, and unfortunately they also won the April meeting at the Kolorcity Aréna thanks to a goal from Patrik Pinte.

All-time record between the first teams of Honvéd and Kazincbarcika:

7 matches, 3 Honvéd wins, 2 draws, 2 Kazincbarcika wins.

Two of our summer signings, Ákos Sigér and Tamás Csilus, have previously played for Kazincbarcika, with the latter moving to Kispest directly from the Borsod club. Kazincbarcika's squad includes one former Honvéd player in the form of Kispest academy graduate Kristóf Herjeczki.
