Zoltán Medgyes: We want to stay on the winning path at Budafok

Ahead of the away league match against Budafoki MTE, Zoltán Medgyes stressed that his aim is to help the team with goals and assists.

As is known, our team opened the spring season with a win, beating Videoton FC Fehérvár 2–1 through goals from Ákos Baki and Dominik Csontos. On Sunday we continue our campaign away from home in the 17th round of the Merkantil Bank Liga as guests of Budafoki MTE.

“We are very happy that we managed to keep all three points at home. We knew it would be a difficult match, but if we want to have a good season this was a very important step. Videoton prepared very well for us. I don’t think their league position reflects their quality, because they are a better team than where they currently stand. It was difficult to break them down in attack, often we could not get in behind them and we created few chances, but hopefully we can change that because we want to score as many goals as possible. If we want to win matches, this is something we definitely have to improve” – Zoltán Medgyes summed up, adding that his aim is to get into scoring positions as often as possible and help the team with goals.

Budafok go into the match from 15th place in the table, inside the relegation zone. Their record over the last five league games is two defeats, two draws and one win. In the previous round Márk Nikházi’s side lost 5–3 to Szentlőrinc. Among the scorers was Szentlőrinc’s Bence Kocsis, who found the Budafok net from the halfway line in the 21st minute. Our team last played away to Budafok in summer 2024, when the match ended in a 3–3 draw.

“I think Budafok will really raise their game for this match and, like the other teams, they will want to beat us. I think we can travel there with confidence because we won at home, and our goal will be to take all three points there as well. I expect us to dominate the match, while Budafok will focus more on counterattacks, but we will prepare thoroughly for them and we want to win.”

Our forward stressed that the team can approach the remainder of the season in good shape and with confidence.

“I want us to continue on this path and win as many matches as possible. As a team we also have a shared goal that we discussed in the dressing room, and we will do everything to achieve it. My personal goal is to score in every match, help the team with assists and win games. We also want to give our supporters the best football possible – with fighting spirit, so they can see that we are doing everything to take all three points away from home as well.”
