Our women's team heads into the derby against MTK in great form, having clinched their fifth consecutive league victory last Sunday. However, the recent period has not been easy for our midfielder, who suffered an ankle injury in the match against Újpest, which forced her to spend some time on the sidelines.
“I suffered a minor ankle injury against Újpest and had to sit out for about a month and a half. Obviously, for any player, the hardest thing is when you can't help the team on the pitch and have to watch the match from the outside. Naturally, I was there with the girls in the dressing room and tried to encourage them from the sidelines as well. My recovery is going well, and now I want to prove myself on the pitch this weekend.”
A genuine derby awaits Balázs Dörnyei's squad, as only a single point separates the two sides in the league table. MTK sit in fifth place with 23 points, while our team occupy sixth position with 22 points. Viktória Murár spent four years with the blue-and-whites, so she knows precisely the quality our capital rivals possess.
“We know MTK well, and personally, so do I, having spent four years there. We definitely need to stay focused and be prepared for every situation; we can't afford to give them opportunities. I believe MTK play a good brand of football, and we are, of course, preparing for them just as we do for any other team. Being on such a good run gives the team greater confidence, and hopefully we can play with even more focus.”
