The BVSC defence led by former Hungary international Paulo Vinícius had kept clean sheets in five of its eight competitive matches before the round, while the visiting Zugló side was the only unbeaten team in the NB II. We therefore knew that a very solid opponent was coming to Kispest, and that was reflected in the pattern of Sunday's evening match.
After eight minutes BVSC had the first attempt on goal, and ten minutes later our goalkeeper Dúzs produced a fine save. We recorded our first chance in the 21st minute, while ten minutes later Holman had an attempt, but no goal was scored and the teams went into the break level at 0-0.
After the restart Sigér had a big chance, but the ball did not find the target. Two minutes later Dúzs had to stay alert at the other end, but our goalkeeper saved BVSC's attempt. In the 69th minute, after a corner from the left, the ball bounced into the net from close range off the advancing Benkő-Bíró, giving the visitors the lead.
We could have equalised in the 97th minute after a huge scramble developed in front of the BVSC goal. First the visitors' goalkeeper made a brilliant save from Farkas's close-range effort, then Farkas shot the rebound towards goal as well. A defender headed that off the line straight to Szabó, standing inside the six-yard box, who got a touch to the ball, but that too was headed away from the mouth of the goal. Benczenleitner then volleyed from 12 metres, but his shot also deflected off a defender, so the score remained 0-1.
In the next round, on October 6, we play Gyirmót at the Alcufer Stadium.
