An important match awaited Honvéd BKE’s Old Boys at Pénzügyőr’s Kőér utcai ground, as they had to prove themselves against the team sitting third in the table. From the very first minute, however, we produced extremely confident, disciplined and inventive football.
The breakthrough came in the 13th minute: Lannert delivered a perfectly measured cross into the box, where Csaba Tóth met it with a diving header into the net – a classic centre-forward’s goal (1–0). The momentum did not stop. In the 27th minute Attila Fritz fired into the far corner from the left (2–0), then seven minutes later he struck again from almost the same spot in almost the same fashion (3–0). We went into the break with a confident and deserved lead.
Andric and Kamber came on at half-time, and the second half was even more spectacular. Honvéd BKE’s attacking football repeatedly played moves almost to checkmate, pulling the opposition defence apart with a mixture of experience, creativity and the joy of playing. Andric again took centre stage, completing a hat-trick and showing his quality both with a delicate finish and a thunderous goal. Kamber also got on the scoresheet in the 71st minute, crowning a dominant team performance. The scoreboard read 7–0 at the end – we gave the third-placed side no chance in the derby. Outstanding football, disciplined defending and flowing attacks characterised the match.
