As is well known, last Saturday our team beat Békéscsaba 1912 Előre 2–0 with goals from Zoltán Medgyes and Ákos Zuigeber. Tamás Feczkó was unable to call on several players for the trip to Békéscsaba, including István Pekár, who was sidelined by injury. The year did not start easily for our 22-year-old player, as illness prevented him from travelling with the squad to the training camp in Turkey and he was also forced to miss several competitive matches. He made his first appearance of the spring season against Csákvár and was then named in the starting line-up again against DVTK. Our midfielder will be available again for the away league game against Karcag.
“Unfortunately the new year did not start the way I wanted. I caught a virus and that kept me out for quite a while, but fortunately the team motivated me. I could see the wins coming and that pushed me to return as soon as possible. I'm happy that this weekend I can finally be with the team again” – he said, before stressing that his return had not been straightforward because the long absence meant he could not prepare with the squad.
“Unfortunately I missed pre-season, which made regaining my fitness quite difficult, but I think that once I returned from illness we worked out a very good protocol with the staff. I'm happy that I could start against both Csákvár and DVTK, and that the staff and management placed their trust in me. I want to repay that going forward as well. Unfortunately I still don't feel 100 per cent, but I'm glad I can finally be with the team again; that helps a lot. I think it's a matter of weeks before I can regain the form I had last year.”
Our team will play on Sunday at the Liget úti Sports Centre, home of Karcagi SC, who sit seventh in the table. The two sides last met in the autumn, in Round 8 of the league, when we earned a 5–2 win at the Bozsik Arena. Our opponents hosted Budafok in the previous round and managed to beat Márk Nikházi's side 3–2.
“Against Karcag I expect a similar result and I hope there will be plenty of goals in our favour. Every game in this league is difficult. We always go into matches aiming to win; we do not want to become complacent and we never underestimate the opponent. We want to produce our best against them as well.”
