As is known, our team earned a two-goal victory away to Csákvár on Saturday in Round 20 of the Merkantil Bank Liga. Our midfielder Ádám Szamosi was left out as a precaution because of an ankle injury, but this week he is once again available to the coaching staff.
“The coaching staff and I decided it would be better for me to miss this match, because we have many important games coming up in the period ahead. Fortunately, this week I can return to full training and we are preparing at full speed for the next matches” – said our young player.
Ádám Szamosi made his first start for Tamás Feczkó's team against Soroksár in the 2024-25 season, and over the past year his brave, creative play and good decisions have helped him establish a regular place in the starting line-up.
“My world has changed a great deal over the past year and a half. It is a huge joy that I can now start every match for Honvéd. All my dreams are coming true because I can help the team with goals and assists, or perhaps with a good performance. I always try to play bravely; I think that comes from my personality. I am not afraid of challenges, I always like to take one step further or draw another card, if I can put it that way. Maybe that also describes my personality, and I try to bring that onto the pitch too.”
A decisive match awaits our team on Thursday, when we face DVTK at Bozsik Aréna in the Hungarian Cup quarter-final, with a place in the last four at stake. Although Vladimir Radenkovic's side sit 11th in the league, a relegation position, they eliminated holders Paks 6–2 in the round of 16. Our player spent the 2023-24 season with Diósgyőr and said he was not surprised by DVTK's success against Paks.
“The quarter-final can be a very important step for us. The fact that we can play DVTK – another NB I team – is a big opportunity. It is not easy to play at Bozsik Aréna; whoever comes here can be certain they will not have an easy match. The fact that I spent a year at Diósgyőr no longer matters in a game like this. Of course I have ties to the club and I have acquaintances and friends there, but I am a professional player, so I have to give my best wherever I am playing. Despite Diósgyőr's weaker league campaign, we must not underestimate them. They proved in the previous round that they are capable of causing an upset. For me perhaps it was not such a big surprise, because I think there is a big difference between their league results and their actual ability. Looking at the squad, they are a better team than their current position suggests. We will need 120 percent to beat Diósgyőr.”
