As in the previous year, our club again took part in the Rimini Cup in Bad Kissingen, Germany. The welcome was once again extremely warm, with the local organisers helping our colleagues with virtually everything.
Our U15 side also performed superbly and went all the way to the final, where Botafogo stopped their run. In a final that remained on a knife-edge until the end, the Brazilians ultimately won 1–0.
Head coach István Körtvélyesi:
From a professional point of view – regardless of the result – I consider the tournament extremely useful. We met well-prepared teams, mostly characterised by German precision, against which it is very difficult to play both stylishly and effectively. On the first day we were able to dominate virtually every opponent and qualification for the final became almost certain. The next day – with a little Hungarian-style nervousness – that was confirmed. In the final we encountered a completely different outlook, approach and quality of play from what we, or indeed the entire domestic top division at this age level, represent. I think the boys rose to the challenge from the very beginning and our opponents regarded us as serious rivals. Congratulations to the team and to my colleagues as well! Come on Honvéd! Only Kispest!
