Both our U19 and U16 teams brought home all three points from ETO: the former won 4–0, while the latter secured a 1–0 victory on the banks of the Rába.

U19

In the U19 competition, our team recorded a confident 4–0 away win against ETO. Márton Bogdánfi's side went into the break three goals ahead thanks to Barna Kecskés, Péter Milicz and Teó Balázs, before Erik Kovács completed the scoring in the second half. Four rounds remain in the season and our U19s are still fighting for the league title. On Saturday our academy players face a big match as they host leaders MTK at the Bozsik Aréna.

Elite Championship, Round 18

ETO WHB FC–Budapest Honvéd FC 0–4 (0–3)

Honvéd: Balogh (Tarjáni 75.), Balázs, Horváth, Csörgő, Komlósi (Schön 55.), Kovács (Szelényi 70.), Somogyi (Tasi 75.), Meskó, Kecskés, Milicz, Russnák (Miták 70.)

Goals: Kecskés (3.), Milicz (32.), Balázs (36.), Kovács (66.)

Márton Bogdánfi, head coach: “We managed to beat a very good opponent, primarily thanks to our transitions.”

U16

István Körtvélyesi's side also managed to bring all three points home from the banks of the Rába: our U16 team beat ETO 1–0. Although the first half ended goalless, the deadlock was broken after the interval when Martin Vérten gave us the lead in the 65th minute. On Saturday our age group host tenth-placed Vasas Kubala Akadémia at the Academy. Our team are second in the league, one point behind leaders MTK.

Elite Championship, Round 19

ETO UNI FC–Budapest Honvéd FC 0–1 (0–0)

Honvéd: Czinki, Marinyák (Kardos 75.), Érsek, Kralicsek (Vérten 46.), Horváth-Garaba, Solymos, Hegyes (Jakab 46.), Barton, Domány (Rotár 46.), Meggyes (Völgyi 46.), Hajagos

Goal: Vérten (65.)

István Körtvélyesi, head coach:

“We showed two different faces on Saturday. In the first half we were almost unrecognisable, our play was so lacking in ideas and courage. We were fortunate that a few players kept the team in the match. At half-time we cleared our heads and four new players came on. In the second half there was no question which team was dominant. We created several chances, but unfortunately managed to score only once. Toward the end of the match, the home advantage was felt very strongly, but fortunately we stayed focused throughout and were able to deal with the numerical disadvantage as well. Congratulations to the team, because we managed to secure a convincing win in a very awkward match.”

U15

Our U15 team drew 1–1 at home against Videoton FC Fehérvár. Although we took the lead through Milán Malomsoki in the 15th minute, the visitors managed to equalise a quarter of an hour later. Tamás Szamosi's side are sixth in the table with 30 points and will visit Illés Akadémia in the next round.

Elite Championship, Round 20

Budapest Honvéd FC–Videoton FC Fehérvár 1–1 (1–1)

Honvéd: Petró (Szabó A. 41.), Török, Palásti (Szabó D. 41.), Nyiri (Bolyki 63.), Magyar (Schill 33.), Menyhárt, Vass, Varga, Malomsoki, Szijjártó, Gerebenes (Balázs 54.)

Goal: Malomsoki (15.)

Tamás Szamosi, head coach:

“We started the match well and managed to take the lead thanks to an alert finish from Malomsoki. We put together some good attacks, but could not double our advantage, and as so often happens, our opponents equalised after a long ball forward. We will keep working to correct the mistakes and help our team develop as much as possible.”

U14

In Round 24 of the elite championship, our U14s suffered a one-goal defeat against Várda Labdarúgó Akadémia. Our team sit sixth in the league with 27 points and continue on Friday against Illés Akadémia.

Elite Championship, Round 24

Budapest Honvéd FC–Várda Labdarúgó Akadémia 0–1 (0–0)

Honvéd: Tóbiás, Karácsony (Tóth 41.), Horváth, Marte, Oke, Nnadi, Palaga (Tóth 49.), Kamber, Rácz, Hanzély, Gerencsér (Kovács 59.)

Djordje Kamber, head coach:

“Our play in possession lacked rhythm, with too many poor and slow decisions. We seemed unfocused and were not patient enough, which gradually took away the confidence we needed as the match went on. Defensively, we lacked aggression and communication. Our positioning was poor and we were often late into duels. At the same time, apart from long-range shots, we did not allow the opposition many chances. Unfortunately, we conceded in stoppage time. Matches like this happen, when nothing works and you cannot find the rhythm. One thing, however, must never happen: that you do not fight and the opponent wants the win more than you do.”
