In response to reports published yesterday and misunderstandings that have arisen on social media, our club would like to issue the following statement.

The Bozsik Arena opened in 2021, incorporating state-of-the-art technology and taking sustainability into account. Accordingly, the stadium's water, electricity and gas systems are designed to support operations with the lowest possible environmental impact.

The stadium's irrigation system does not use the drinking-water network. The Bozsik Arena has two drilled wells whose water is not suitable for drinking without additional treatment. The stadium also has two rainwater storage tanks beneath the external car park, with capacities of 1,100 and 620 cubic metres respectively. They store rainwater collected from the stadium roof and car-park surfaces.

The automatic irrigation system uses water from the wells and collected rainwater, continuously adjusting the optimal ratio between the two. The drinking-water network could only be used in an exceptional emergency, which would also require switching the automatic system to manual operation. This has not been necessary once since the stadium opened in 2021.

It is important to emphasise that the restriction currently in force applies to the use of drinking water. As the Bozsik Arena is not irrigated with drinking water, the stadium complies with the regulations currently in force in this respect.

Irrigation is currently used exclusively to maintain the playing surface. Providing a pitch of the required quality is essential from a sporting perspective: neglecting the turf would substantially worsen its condition and ultimately lead to far higher restoration costs.

At the same time, we suspended irrigation of the arena's other green spaces some time ago. The effects can also be seen in the areas in front of the stadium, but this was a deliberate decision to ensure that we manage the available water resources as responsibly as possible.

Kispest–Honvéd FC remains committed to sustainable stadium operations and acts in accordance with the legislation in force at all times.
